It's looking better and better every time I see it. :)

Note to self: stop by Michael's after class to get some of this stuff for the Studio 1535.

Thanks Shroom :) Is Michael's the name for an Arts & Crafts store?

Here we have an arts and crafts store what we call "Art Friend" in Singapore. :p

Yeah, Michael's is pretty much the Wal-Mart of the arts and crafts world. It's a damn superstore.

But....I like my jet black spartan notebooks...Lol

Looks like a cool idea, but I really do love the spartan business look.

Some notebooks are more suited to mods like this than others. Business-y notebooks like the Thinkpads, Latitudes, Vostros, etc. are meant for that rugged black armored look. Stuff like the XPS M1730 posted earlier, though, are all about flash.

My Studio is somewhere in the middle. It's jet-black and pretty unadorned except for a chrome Dell circle logo dead center of the lid. I think the white and chrome tape would accent that nicely.

So far both of my laptops have been under rough conditions, even water dropped on it, sweaty palms, placed in bag packs (Bag's cloth material may scratch off the skins) for nearly half a year and the tape still retains as it is. ;)

I think it all depends on the tape you use - Mine are very sticky, it takes a while to pull off from your hand if stick em'. :D

I'm not too big on extravagant designs with chrome everywhere either; it's why I ordered my Studio 15 with the plain Jet Black finish instead of one of the artist patterns. But used sparingly, I think a bit of extra stuff like chrome tape can do more good than harm.

As long as it's not comparatively expensive.

According to the OP, the adhesives used cost less than $10. That's a price I'm willing to pay.

Haha, no it's not made of leather. I just added wood wrapping at the corners. Albeit like an XPS Studio 16. The wood wrapper is actually plastic lamination that is used for kitchen tables. I got some leftovers so I thought a little bit or recyclable work would be nice. :D

Tapes are up till now, really, really sticky. They won't come off easily.

That is an absolutely professional job. I want to try something on my Studio 1555, but I can't think of anything that won't clash with the Black Chainlink pattern. :p
