I have a D820 for home use and just purchased a used D600 off of E-Bay for work. It runs very good, but the magnesium lid has some paint chips. I like the Grayish/silverish color on my "D" series and I do not really want to paint it a different color. Has anybody here know of a touchup paint that would match what Dell uses? I have a silver colored Ford Ranger and that does not match my Dells at all. It will be a work PC, but the bare Magnesium bugs me.

I'm not sure about what paint to use but...
You may just want to buy a new lid off ebay. I'm sure ebay has them -
E-Bay has used ones and repainted ones. A repainted one is $55.00 with hinges. Ouch!!! I have a couple of nicks on the top and several on the sides. I was just hoping to lightly touch it up if there was a known touch up color available. I have no dents and the hinges are good.

You're in luck - there is a very very near match in touch up paint for cars. It is for the 2000 and up model Nissan Sentra. The color is called Fusion I believe. Ask the dealer, they will know what you are talking about. It is the metallic color that is in between tan and grey. Touching up spots actually produces a pretty decent result, but if you can, see if you can get a spray can of that color. Use SEVERAL light sprays and mask properly and your D600 will look like new! I just restored a D600 for a friend with a 2.0ghz Dothan, 2gb RAM and 250gb hard drive. I have a stockpile of 20 or so D600s that I will be putting on ebay soon. However they aren't in great condition, maybe B+, so sorry I can't provide you with any good parts (except for screen bezels, palmrests and hard drive caddies Ihave some in perfect shape). Good luck!
OOps, forgot to mention that this is the same color for the D600, D610, D800, D810, and certain parts of the more multicolored D620/630 and D820/D830 as well as Precision M20, M65, M70, M90, M4300 and M6300. -
Good luck for the paint job.
