Hi there. So I have an ide on how to overcome Nvidia Optimus (this would apply on all laptops that have an integrated Intel HD and discrete graphic card) and run the integrated LCD directly on the discrete graphic card.

Image bellow pretty much sums it up. What do you guys think?

    1. No, the computer cannot power that LCD controller board. There is no 12V.

    2. I don't understand your question.

    3. Not sure, but I would think that depends on the controller board.

Why not just buy an external monitor to game on? If that would allow 60+ Hz, that would be great and super simple. You could also still take your computer around with you without having to worry about any other cords or adapters.

If you would really want to do this modification the right way while still keeping the laptop clean on the outside, I have two ideas. One would be to buy a panel that takes internal displayport. You could wire it directly to the displayport connector inside your laptop, and you could get all the other necessary connections from the existing display output (on/off, LED driving, etc). The second option could be to intercept the LVDS signals from your discrete GPU and feed them to the display without first going through the processor. This might be a lot more difficult or practically impossible, however.

Hi Qing! Thanks for the reply, I will investigate in the internal modification.

Worst case scenario I will sell the laptop for cheap moniez and just buy an Alienware.

    Best regards
