Hey everyone, I'm in need of a new project and thought this would be a very fun and informative project.

I want to build a custom laptop and thought this would be a place to go to find help and guidance.

Here's what I have right now. I have more on my XP partition but they are unimportant right now so I'll update with that at a later time/date.

    Motherboard: http://www.liantec.com/product/emboard/ITX-6M45.htm
    Graphics adapter: http://www.liantec.com/product/tbm/TBM-1630.htm

Will these work for a custom laptop? I assume they will but I'm unsure. Basically because of power concerns.

The things I need help finding/finding out about are:

    Battery
    Power Supply adapter
Low battery consuming mobile monitor 13.3"-15.6"
    Charger port somehow?
    Any other useful info

I plan on making the case in my school metal shop so that will be the last step.

I know this will not be an easy object, no use in telling me.

    Thanks,

    -Zach

Look at the ports at the back, they are designed for a standard I/O panel and are VERY tall for a notebook....

Monitors are easy, any from a notebook so long as the board has an LVDS out port.

Here's an idea: build a custom laptop using an old housing (from an M6300, maybe?), new components (Core i7 CPU + MB) from other laptops and custom metal/plastic parts made on Shapeways. If successful, it'll be a very impressive Frankentop :). I've been thinking of doing something like this but will most probably never get around to it :).
