Before you picket me with pitchforks and torches, here me out. :p

My brother wants to find a way to hide the Apple logo on my MacBook Pro because 1. He takes his laptop to classes where all the lights are turned off and the logo on the back is too bright and 2. He just doesn't want a glowing fruit on the back of his laptop.

Any creative ways to hide the Apple Logo instead of just putting a sticker on it?

If you're feeling particularly DIY-ish, disassemble the LCD housing and put something thing and opaque in front of the apple cutout.

Have either of you ever tried to disassemble a Macbook's lid? Bad idea.

Tried, yes. Succeeded, somewhat. Didn't fix what I wanted, but was able to reassemble the damn thing. It's an ugly mess in there, but it's sort of an option.

The logo is cutout in the LCD lid which allows the backlight to be visible (bleed).

    1) You can dim the backlight to a very low level. It would make the logo less visible.
    2) You can bend (open) the laptop's lid to its backward limits meaning you'd have to hover over your laptop to see the screen and pull the laptop closer to get a proper top view of the screen.
    3) You can use an external monitor if available, backlight is off, the logo is off also.
    4) You can place a book on its book ends up against the laptop lid to block the logo.

Glue/Tape an external hard drive over the logo. This both hides the logo, and now you have an extra hard drive attached to your notebook!

Cut out an apple from cardboard, get one of those suction cups. 1 side suction cup, other side sticky pad. Stick the pad to the apple cardboard that is the same size as the stupid glowing apple. Stick the suction cup to the back of the apple laptop.

    Problem solved.

Get one of those snap on cases for the notebook. Cut out a black piece of paper in the shape of an apple. Place the piece of paper on top of the clear part in the case. Snap case onto apple.

I always wondered why they went away from the rainbow logo. I thought it was rather appropriate. ;)

perhaps using the carbon or black vinyl sheets (the kind they use for automotive) to cover for something that can be taken off easily may work?

Watch some programming on TWiT Network and get ideas from them. Just about everyone there uses a Mac and they all have different ways of covering up the Apple logo.

I have always liked these, but this does nothing for the problem.

I'd go for the old apple logo mod if I was in a similar situation.
