I'm trying to figure out a way to change the color of the status indicator LEDs (above the keyboard) from white to blue. I want to do this without resoldering a tiny LED on. I was thinking of placing some sort of blue film under the cover strip where the lights shine through on the indicators. Any advice?

If you don't have any problem opening your machine there's no need for advice.
Haven't tried colored films but have used paper strips to lower the light intensity on a number of notebooks. -
No, not worried about opening it. The plastic strip comes right off without having to remove any screws or anything. I considered trying some sort of plastic film but would need to find one that is dark enough.

Got it! At work, we use blue nitrile gloves and I got to thinking....
I cut a strip and folded it 3 times then layed it under the plastic strip, above the LEDs. It definitely gave me the shade of blue I was wanting and also dimmed the ammount of light shining through. Here's a pic I took with my phone (not the best quality).

So no heat issues? Have you checked the material after use to see if it is getting any wear? -
Still going strong and the material hasn't melted or anything.
