I love the transformation pack, I wont be applying it to my new laptop but on this piece of junk that will soon belong to my mother I thought I may aswell try it out. Screen shot:
Also I can imagine it would be VERY hard to uninstall (is why i wont be putting it on my new lappy) as it changes the windows files itself, it does not make new ones so if uninstalled, the computer is most likely going to be left with no information about what the start-up screen etc. is supposed to look like. -
i have the vista transform pack and i rly like it a lot, but since everyone says its hard to uninstall, i guess i'll wait till i install vista instead of trying to uninstall it. but if i install vista, will everthing be ok? no more transform pack?
-
EDIT: I figured it out. -
Can you tell me how to do it, because I can't figure it out either !
Please ?!!! -
I hate VTP, it looks good but there is a noticeable performance hit and it screwed up everything when I tried to uninstall it. Had to reformat; so I wouldn't recommend it to anyone unless you have a very powerful notebook. Here is what I did instead :
I am using a simple XP theme with patched uxtheme.dll. In addition to that I have also customized Shell32.dll,msgina.dll and winlogon.exe to add custom icons and login screens. No extra burden on the CPU or the graphics card because these modifications are done by replacing original content. -
well since i dont wanna screw up my computer, when i upgrade to vista, will the VTP be gone without problem?
-
I don't think anyone knows for sure, but since Vista will probably overwrite any theme files that are from WinXP, I think it'll just remove it completely.
That's just a guess. Anything can happen, especially if you do an upgrade instead of a fresh install of Vista. -
If you want I can post or send you the patched dll files to make XP look like the screens I posted. You only have to replace 4 dll files. The process is completely reversible since all you have to do is replace those 4 dlls back with the originals. This is the safest and most efficient way to get the Vista look. It wont give you fancy transparent effects or Side bars, but it is much better than the XP default theme.
If you only want to get the Vista look alike theme to work, then you simply have to replace only one dll (uxtheme.dll) and download the theme. -

Please check your PM
Could you please upload the files and instruction as how to use .
Thanks -
Thanks usapatriot and miner. Anyone installing this theme run the msi then when it brings up the display properties click cancel. Go back in the desktop properties and click on the Appearance tab. Under Windows and Buttons select Zune Style and click okay. This will give you the black taskbar and grayer windows without changing your background image or anything else.
