So I decided that I would apply some CF vinyl to my laptop. I had previously spray painted it silver, but after a few months it got boring.

To apply the vinyl I had to open up the LCD bezel, and totally disassemble the laptop. Total work time was about 2 hours.

The overall application was very easy. Its a simple press and stick type of deal. The only problem I had was a few air bubbles that refuse to go away, even with me poking at them with pins. The other problem is that the sticker is not perfectly straight. I must of applied it at a slant as it starts high on one end, and goes low on the other. Overall I am very happy with the results.

How did you get the corners so nice? Does it stretch to allow it to form to the shape nicely? I have never worked with it, but that certainly looks nice.

The corners are really easy...as long as you have two people and a blow dryer! Once you do a corner, there really is nothing to do. All you have to do is heat the area of the corner up for 10 seconds, and stretch a 3" section, down and over the corner. It takes a little getting used to, but once you have done one, you can do them all!

I actually got the material locally, from a business partner. I have tried looking on eBay but the best I could find was $14 or so for a 12 by 24 section. I got mine at roughly $14 for a 14 by 24 section. If you want, Ill pick up a piece for you and mail it out, proving you pay for it all. PM me and Ill get you a quote.

The vinyl is really thin. I don't have anything small enough to measure it. Ill toss up some pics of the sheets, and possibly a corner how-to video when I have some free time.

This has a really nice look to it. I will probably be giving the E1505 a CF treatment like this, along with a silver M1710 keyboard to go with the inner bezel, so it will look nice.

i was wondering, when did u apply that?
cause i bought some flexible carbon fiber at decalfx.com, and i went around the corners of my lid, but then they turned into air pockets then all of a sudden started to peel. now every time it starts to peel i have to squeegee it back, but then it starts peeling again. how did u go around corners? i did the same thing with a blow dryer. am i stretching too much?

I just applied it yesterday. So far there is no peeling and everything looks solid. I tried to remove a corner today, but it had already molded and hardened to form a solid corner. The only way its coming off is by ripping it off.

That DealsFx stuff looks to be the same stuff Im using, just a heck lot more expensive! 24 x 12 is $30, I can get 24 x 14 for roughly $18.

Ok, so Iv got a tentative price from my friend for this stuff.
    14" x 24"- $20
    14" x 36"- $29
    14" x 48"- $38.50
For multiple orders of the same product, there is a small bulk discount of 5% off per similar item. (Lets say you want 2, 14" x 24" sheets. Your total would be $40, subtract 5% off $40 to give you $38.

Shipping is a flat $10 to Canada and USA. Its $20 internationally. All prices in USD.

I also happen to have some extra Windows/ATI/etc stickers. There is a graph below. I do not necessarily have them all, but I have most. They will cost $3 each, no additional shipping if ordered with the vinyl.

Applying the stuff is really easy. Taking apart your laptop is the hard part. Iv done it a couple (hundred) times now, so Iv got the process down to 10 minutes. All you need to do is remove the screws you can see, pry up the plastic, see there is resists- and look for more screws in that area. Eventually it will open up.

Thats very nice, what about for like that laptop badge you have? Did you peel the case badge off, heat and embed it back in?

I want to wrap my vaio, and I was wondering if it were possible to preserve the lettering on the lid

I guess that if you want to make it look nice you have to fully debadge then put it back together.

I plan on making mine all white. Going for the apple look ;)
