I removed the optical disk drive on my new Samsung Series 3 laptop (15.6" model, NP300-V5A-A02US) so I could convert the SATA port to an eSATA port.

It's kind of an ugly hack, and I've been thinking about ways to make a blank/cover/door for the space. Any suggestions?

I still have the black plastic trim that was attached to the optical drive's tray. Been thinking about ways I could use that.

You could attach the trim with a non-permanent solution like double-sided tape, or if you're feeling like a tinkerer, find a leaf spring you can attach to the trim on one end and to a structural piece on the interior and hold it in without tape. Tape wouldn't hold up for all that long if you keep moving the laptop around.
