I just accidentally scratched the right mouse button under the touch-pad on my Aspire 6930. I don't really mind having scratch on the laptop front cover but having one right on the mouse button is really bothering me. :(

Is there any way to buffer it out? The button is made of plastic if this is going to help.

I would also know how to remove scratches. I used a towel to polish my laptop a little and I have a glossy laptop. As you probably already guessed that wasn't very clever of me as my laptop is now full with scratches but they aren't deep at all but it's full of them!

You don't fill scratches, you remove material around the scratch until the scratch disappears. Use brasso or polishing compound for a car.

    Ain't brasso too abrasive ?
I think it will do more damage >>
Polishing compound would be a better bet >>

Yeah, Brasso works better on glossy surfaces and not plastic.
But I', wondering where can I find a good polising compund?

It worked pretty well on my ipod a few years ago. It is a polish after all. I'm going to try to use some on my glossy inspiron and see how that goes.

A lot of laptops these days are glossy plastic so that's what I was thinking of. If your mouse button is painted and it doesn't have a glossy clearcoat that wasn't penetrated by the scratch, it is never going to look right.

In the end, I just decided to stick a sticker there. I didn't want to try brasso because it might make the scratch worse. Problem solved...

UPDATE: I tried a plastic polisher/scratch remover (Meguiar's PlastiX) and tried to remove the scratch. Now the scratch is gone but It left a small grey mark because the scratch remover removed the plastic color coating around the scratch because it was too deep.

Also, the buttons are really glossy now. :) Is it possible to re-paint the buttons later on or to apply another coat?
The scratch remover really worked really well my the other scratches on the laptop tho.

What about the sticker u had previously put in ?
I guess that at this point u could try to paint it with a real good and fine brush ><
Now have u used to much pressure to get rid of the scratch when using the polisher ?

Well, the scratch itself was deeper than the coating.
Yeah my sticker is on right now :D
I heard Krylon Fusion paint is made for plastic, will it work?

Yes I have already used it for something else (plastic) and it worked well.
Are u planning to buy spray can (it would be better of do it with a fine brush)

Well at this point there is nothing else u can do about it >

You can either keep the sticker in place or paint the glossy areas, however
use paint for plastic. It may improve but will not look like the original.

Thanks, well I guess I'll live with the spot. I don't want to risk making it even worse.
