Be CAREFUL buying a laptop off of eBay! especially if it costs over $500....
I got scammed out of over $1000 on a Toshiba x205 laptop auction because I got to eager wanting to buy a laptop for cheaper...(I did however get my money back after filing for a "chargeback" with credit card company after PayPal basically told me to "screw off"). There are A LOT of con artists on ebay selling laptops. What to look for when buying one on ebay is if the seller is a "power seller" with over 95% positive feedback... some con artists will build their feedback up selling a lot of small cheap items, and then when they look legit, they pretend to sell large expensive items (ie: laptops). Make sure its a seller whos had past experience selling laptops on ebay. Also, and probably the most important, look for the "PayPal Buyer Protection" section on the auction page. Make sure it says "Buyer Protection up to $2000" and not the "up to $200" one. This means that if its a con artist who sells it to you and takes your money thru paypal and liquidates his account with no money left to refund you, then paypal is obligated to refund you up to the amount of $2000 ...... the $200 smaller protection doesnt really help when you buy a laptop for over $1000 from a con artist and all you get refunded is a lousy $200 from PayPal....... MAKE SURE YOU ALWAYS PAY WITH A CREDIT CARD THRU PAYPAL....that way you can file a CHARGEBACK if things go wrong and PayPal turns their back on you!!!!!!!
