I ordered a dv5t with accessories through HP on Friday and all indications showed I was logged on through the live.com cashback link, making me eligible for the 40% discount (took 6 hours of constant refreshing to get through but it was around 4 PM PST, I didn't use any coupons). I still have not seen any pending cashback amounts in my live.com cashback account. I am concerned about this since many others on NBR have stated they received cashback award notice in their live.com account hours after their purchases. Is something wrong or do I need to continue waiting?

If I should wait, how long should I wait before getting concerned?

Who do I contact, live.com or HP? How best to contact them?

What do I tell them when I do contact them?

I am pretty much at a loss here and quite worried as I have over $500 that should be coming to me via live.com cashback. I ordered some upgrades to the laptop knowing I would be getting the discount, but if I thought it wouldn't work I might not have ordered these upgrades. I am strating to get really bummed about this whole ordeal.

If it doesnt show up, just email the live feedback team with copy of your receipt and other information. Look at the Live FAQ. They'll credit your account.
My TigerDirect cashback didn't show up so I had to email them. They took care of it.

Sorry this is a little off-topic but is there a list somewhere that shows where all the cashback is eligible at other than ebay?

Thanks guys! Sounds like an email to the live.com cashback folks with proof of purchase from HP (which I have via email) will hopefully do the trick.

What a BS statement. Down for a few hours if you consider the entire duration of the promotion (12 hours) only a few hours. Weird how everyone using cashback for other sites experienced no problems but this single promotion (probably the best one going and the one leading to the most lost money by MS) was the only one suffering these nebulous technical issues. I smell something fishy.

Has the ebay cashback dropped from 25% to 20%? Does it fluctuate up and down or does it just steadily decrease

Not exactly. Some of the other major CB sites such as Tigerdirect also had issues during that time.

Anyone know of any updates on this? Will Microsoft and/or HP make good on the 40% cashback offer for those who got through on Friday? I made a legit purchase through this deal and so far no cashback notices or reply to my email complaint to microsoft (other than the automated email saying to wait 3-5 days and they will get to me me in the order in which they receiveded my email).

I did see the statement made by the MS manager about live.com having some problems, but nothing else. My order has shipped so my only recourse is to ship my product back to HP, but this a X-mas gift for my wife and I planned all along to get her a dv5t. Oh the humanity!

Anyone here back from Microsoft on this? More specifically, has anyone received the 40% rebate they were expecting?

yep. my friend got through to the hp website on black friday and i decided that instead of trying my luck some more, i would just have him place my order on top of his. we initially got hp confirmation, but nothing at all from microsoft. so we sent them an email last monday. they said wait it out. so we did...until friday, when we sent them another email. after nearly two days, they respond with an email saying they will deal with it asap. lo and behold, a few hours later we see the confirmation and the credit in the cashback account for 40% off of the pretax price. i did not realize tax was not covered, so i ended up paying ~40 more than i expected to, but that is still pretty good. i'm just glad this issue is finally resolved. :)

Seems like it is a bit spotty on who Microsoft gets back to. I have sent 2 emails and so far and no actaul response (beyond the standard automated reply). I am nervous as I have over $500 coming back to me and if I don't get the refund I will be forced to return my wife's Christmas gift. What a hassle!

Thanks for the feedback though. Makes me a bit more patient than I otherwise would have been.

I finally received the 40% cashback pending in my cashback account. I sent a 3rd email yesterday to the [email protected] address and this morning I had an email from one of their employees saying I received the rebate and sure enough, it is now showing in my cashback account. I am not sure if my 3rd email spurred them to take action of if I was simply in queue waiting to be helped, but either way I am very happy to have this resolved. This morning's reply and subsequent cashback rebate were the first time I received any feedback from Microsoft (except for the canned automated reply). Prior to today I never had 3% or any other amount pending in my cashback account. Now I don't have to return the HP items I purchased as a Christmas gift for my wife. This has left a bittersweat taste in my mouth about the live.com cashback program, but I can't say I wouldn't use this service again should such a sweet deal come around again (40% off your HP order is hard to turn down). For those still waiting, hang in there, you have until after Christmas to return your laptops, and if you can I suggest waiting a while longer before sending back your hardware (assuming you really want the hardware and aren't itching to stick it to HP by returning your purchases).

Has anyone been getting instant cashback from live.com?
I've purchased a few things in the last couple days with live.com and the cashback came within minutes after I placed my order!! There's still a few items that are waiting for the 2 month period to expire but I purchased those items at least a couple weeks ago.
