Dont think you can find this any cheaper. Not to sure about the company though. Anyone heard of them?
Really thinking about jumping on this.
-
good god thats an amazing offer. Maybe i should buy this on top of my new notebook..heh. prolly cause its compaq..eeww =P
-
Make sure to do your research on the company. I've never heard of them, so make sure it's legit before putting any money down for your own protection.
It seems too good to be true--and like they say, "if it seems too good to be true, it probably is."
And as ZaZ pointed out in devlin24's other thread about this deal, they don't show up in resellerratings.com, or in pricegrabber.
Keep yourselves safe guys. -
This is way to good to be true... 1gig 667 ram? 7200rpm 80gig HD? There is no way you can get it for that cheap.
One way to try it would be to buy something really cheap and then return it afterward or get help from their customer service. Buy a usb stick or something and then return it (make up some absurd reason). If their customer service is good and they are helpful, then perhaps they are not bad after all...
Actually... check this out.. http://www.epinions.com/pr-Online_Stores_Services-Amuras/display_~reviews
It seems postive.. -
Oh and also it seems they don't sell Core 2 Duo machines which means their nc8430 and nc6400 are not very up-to-date.
-
It's a good chance they're selling refurbished machines. You can contact HP and see if they're a verified reseller of new machines.
-
Thats a great offer -
I bought one and double checked. they are not refirbs.
-
-
I agree there are 2 many scammers out there just go to HP and get a price match -
Yeah, that price is too good to be true. Probably a scam.
-
I think there is some agreement among the moderators that this website is probably selling re-furbed or damaged notebooks without telling their consumers. Scamming...yes. Stay away...probably so. Worth the trouble...no.
-
I think there are about 5 or 6 people on here that have bought this comp from amuras. All have had no problems whatsoever. If anyone is in the Columbia, SC area I would be glad to show you the laptop and all the paperwork.
It really is a great deal. If you are worried you can always just dispute it with your credit company. I had mine overnighted to make sure I didnt have to wait and see if the deal was bad. Like I have said, Really happy with it and Amuras so far. Search around the forums and see how many have bought this deal so far. -

At least it is registered in the US. Call them up and talk to them. The website looks a little rough because it is a smaller company I bet. -
fyi, it is refurbished. the sku number is on hp's refurbished notebook list:
http://h71016.www7.hp.com/dstore/ht...rbished/computing/price-list-anchor-notebooks -
thanks for that information.
If anyone bought this machine and they didnt state it was refurbished you should be able to get your money back.
This would be a scam, illegal etc. -
actually i just double-checked....it doesn't have the same sku number....
amuras #: RE798US#ABA
hp refurbished sku with same specs: RE798US R#ABA -
Heh, told you guys it wasnt refurbished model. Saw someone on here say that the machines come up as models that have a special config. That is why the modle # is what it is and that a company bought a bunch of them and didnt take the whole lot. Amuras is then selling them new and unopened with full Hp warrenty.
-
Got mine from Amuras last week. No problems. Sealed in the box and everything.
-
ordering mine tonight!
hp 8430 $1299
