Nice. Problem is that you have to fork over $50-$80 for Blu-ray player software, when you can buy BD ROM drives for $50-$60 that comes with software. Just something to consider and be aware of. Otherwise if you've got software, awesome deal.

The software can be a pain, but there are a few free trials that will play BDs ;)
And DVDfab is the best program ever.

EDIT: after thinking about that post, I DO NOT pirate movies. when the local pawn store has 1000s+ for $1 each there is no need to.(and my internet sucks)

Awesome point, I wish I had known this before I bought my BD Drive. I probably wouldn't have bought it if I'd know windows didn't play BD by itself.

    Should have done my homework.

I still don't understand why blu-ray player software is so damn expensive still. I mean you can buy a budget standalone blu-ray player for $50 that obviously paid the license fee for the blu-ray codec, yet for PC it's difficult to find a BD player with software for less than $60.

These are cheap, yes, but they are untested, and there doesn't appear to be any sort of return policy.

    I emailed him.
I would think a seller with 1k+ ratings would stand behind his products...

Because there's no free version like VLC or Media Player Classic to downward pressure on the price.

For the price, I figured it was worth a punt. I already have BD software, and I'm hopeful the listing is correct in that the drive has Lightscribe support. My wife's notebook needs a new optical drive as well, so I'll install my old drive in her machine.
