Windows® 7 Launch Party
Party Date: October 22, 2009 (28 days away)
Not a Finalist
Sorry, your application was not among those selected for this event.
Many applied and spaces were limited. Don't be discouraged! -
Well I just logged in and it says
Your application has been denied
We are Sorry but you cant have a party
I wonder why
Is it that I dont have any friends, and that no one would come to my party
Well Im holding a party without them
I wont have the special version of W7
But in its place I will be dusting off my old trusty Windows ME
I will show those guys

In any case, MS has released training videos for house party hosts, here's the Intro one: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9oWWt_L-qeo -

Wow, after that I am almost glad I am not hosting a party.

For those that will obtain Win 7 Ultimate for free, congratulations. For those of us that will not, I'm considering boycotting Windows on October 22 and running Ubuntu all day.
I'll be replacing Vista with 7 on my notebook, though I'm considering canceling one of my pre-orders and continuing to run XP and Ubuntu dual boot on my desktop. -
I got an email saying I was a finalist, the email explained that the ppl that responded fastest would be confirmed, after they fill the spots, they would tell you that you are declined instead. Can't wait for free Windows 7.
Site doesn't say if its the full or upgrade version, but it does include both the 32 and 64 bit versions. Plus all those decorations. Lol. Windows 7 napkins anyone? -
yer im annoyed too. i had the same message in my account as tomcat but then it went back to active aplicant but it still dosnt say that im a host yet? it just says i am still being considered.
not happy JAN! -
What a sad party that'd be.
-
I seem to have won! Email confirmation and everything!

Windows 7 "party pack" unboxed!
http://www.stuffiwrote.co.uk/2009/09/29/windows-7-party-pack-unboxed/
looks like the x64 version is an anytime upgrade while the 32bit is the "full" version. -
Does that mean I can't do a clean install of windows 7 64 bit when it arrives? Currently running Vista Home premium 32bit.
-
Yeah you can still do a clean install with an upgrade disk--it just needs to detect a valid copy of Vista or XP is already on the disk before it will let you proceed with formatting etc.
I wonder if you didn't have a valid Vista or XP license that you could install the 32 bit disk then turn around and use the 64 bit upgrade? probably need a separate key -
So heres the situation:
I've recently purchased a 160GB Thinkpad T500 which comes with 64bit Vista Home Premium. I'll be recieving the 64bit Windows 7 Home Premium Upgrade sometime after Oct 22nd.
I also have a Window 7 Party pack coming with the full version 32bit Windows 7 Ultimate Edition BUT with the 64bit Window 7 anytime upgrade.
What I want to know is:
Can I do a clean install of 64bit Windows 7 Ultimate on my T500?
Can I then use the Window 7 Home Premium upgrade I get from Lenovo on a different computer that is running Vista?
How much space would Windows 7 Home Premium use compared to Windows 7 Ultimate? -
Got my shipping confirmation for the launch party pack today. UPS...
-
LOL... The version shipping w/ the party pack is being referred to as the "Steve Balmer" edition...

Received an email this morning with tracking info for my party pack, scheduled delivery on the 9th!
-
i got mine the day after i got the email!
-
Got my package today. It's actually pretty nice and I'm enjoying the win7 x64 ultimate for FREE!
My party will consist of friends and family, I'll show off how fast it is and then we'll be playing monopoly and eating. -
I think I'm gonna sell mine. What do you guys think I'll get for it?
-
-
is it me or am I the only one who thinks its wrong to sell them. Plus its says right on the disc, not for resale?
-
If I wasn't getting one would seriously consider getting one of the full copies from ebay. I had every intention of paying the 200 something dollars for an upgrade version--200 for the full is that much better.
I don't see anything wrong with people selling them on Ebay--figured awhile back that they would start showing up--not a surprise at all especially in this economy with so many people out of work. -
Since the thread is going OT and Microsoft is no longer accepting host application, this thread is now closed.
If you want to invivite people to your party, there should be a thread located the OT forum.
Also remember that selling intangible things(like CD-key) is against our forum rules.
Throw a party, free window 7
