This is true, but and this is the big thing, who would come. I know that of all people only maybe 2 of my friends would come to a Windows 7 launch party...some fun huh? XD

I was tempted to possibly throw one for my school..i know there's got to be some nerds here. XD

Do you think my dorm room would be big enough to host? I wonder what the requirements are - I would throw a party with just one other friend of mine to get a free copy of Win 7.

Also included in USA party packs:

    * One package of streamers for decoration
    * One package of balloons for decoration

Is it me or does this whole thing sound crazy? Why would you want some unknown people coming over to your house just to get some software?

I am pretty sure you invite who you want not random people. The houseparty.com thing is just to help you organize it unless I am mistaken.

That would be awkward to have a bunch of strangers come over. Moreso when the party is dedicated to an OS.

Lol, yes inviting a hobo is a very good idea. So what if you get robbed or shot, you have a free copy of Win 7. Thats all that counts :D

    Seriously, I don't even think I know 9 people :D :p

Ok so hosts get a free copy of win 7 and invitees get nothing? They'll probably not want to come then.

How exactly do they validate that people actually come to your house? I mean, what's to stop me from just inviting all my close friends like usual and saying it's for a "Windows 7 launch party"?

haha, that's what I was thinking, I wouldn't mind "inviting" my dog or cat.

I did notice though that they want you to take photos, blog, and (if possible) do a video of the experience so they might be able to verify that way.

LMAO, your dog and your cat. That's great. But still even if pictures are the way to validate a legitimate party, you can easily take pictures of your friends and call it a day.

I could just ask the boss to let me use the meeting room at the hotel, open it up toss some beer/wine in there and call it guest appreciation night.

I would have 20-30 people hanging out having a good time and none would know my motive to get free win 7.

I went ahead and applied, and sent my boss the email letting her know what I did, could be fun if all goes well.

I have a big open meeting room space in a hotel
I have a projector and will hook my Wii too it or something to play games
Get some beer/wine and some snacks and just open it to public at the hotel. I'll get 10 people easy.

exactly what im doing... im just gunna throw a BBQ and do some bowling on my wii and might set up my laptop with the new win 7 (if i get selected, but if not many people on here intend on doing it and we are all into this kinda stuff, i doubt many random people will do it especially in australia)

anyway the first anyone hears anything please post to let us know.

    thanks

I got a hosting spot! Time to start planning a party. I am kind of exited, Got four people so far. I will prolly have a cookout, drink some brews, play some games and demo one of my computers with win 7 so everyone can play with it a bit. I should get some good info on the new os and its tricks this thursday when I attend the launch event.
