Not sure if this is the right place to post this but anyway,I spotted it on one of the google adds in this forum...

WOW! The Acer TM8204WLMi is for sale at $1069 at the website mobileinc.co.uk!
This laptop usually goes for $2500+!

Is this for real? Can anyone confirm this? Has anyone heard of this store before? Should I trust it? Heeelp, I'm going crazy!

That's what I'm thinking. Do you know of any way I can check their reputation? They seem to be based on the UK...

omg.... those deals look so incredibly shady. The price, however, is soooo alluring! dang... lol

If someone actually does it and doesn't get screwed, post quick! :p

It says free international shipping - sounds fishi!
There is no warranty information at all?
Wish the had something very cheap from them to buy and just test.
    hmm...

Ah, one more thing...the "Click image to enlarge" doesn't work on any items, and the v2000z "Customizable" is not Customizable?
Seems like a copy/past job from other sites.

Also, not one single product review refers to "mobileinc.co.uk"? Some mention MIRs??

    Still, it could be legit.

    SCAM!!
TRIED TO MAKE A FAKE PURCHASE - Western Union IS THE ONLY OPTION (typical ebay scam, read their forums)!
It has the Verisign and TRUSTe logos, but these are only for the US, not the UK and definetely not South Korea!
To top it of, the yellow locker never showed up - Verisign and TRUSTe anyone?

It must be SCAM. Cause I'm from south korea, I believe that they are scammer.
They sell acer's laptop but acer does not run the business in Korea. Obviously, there is no warehouse in Korea. If they can sell items with such a cheap price, why they don't sell in Korea? if they do, they could save shipping money!!! However, I've not heard that somebody sell laptops so cheaply. Because laptop market in korea is bigger than your thought, they could sell their machine shortly with those prices.
I also asked them whether local pickup is available. I'll post if it is available and I'll try to buy one...........

Ah, I see this has been moved. I guess it does make more sense here

It does feel a lot like a scam but it's so alluring that I must be sure!

piik, do you live in Seoul? Is there anyway you can check to see if they really have a store there, physically I mean. Hell, I would even fly to London to check their (supposed) store there, it would still be worth it!

And Olphus, I agree that the Western Union stuff looks very fishy... But it would seem they offer normal payment methods (visa, mastercard, etc) to UK residents...

I'll just say that if it is a scam then they went to a lot of trouble to prepare it...

Is there anyone here in the forums that is experienced in these sort of things and knows what a guy should do to ensure himself?

Edit: The offer of free international shipping they had yesterday for 10-18 of February, now appears for 10-21 of February. Hmmm...

I got a reply from them and local pick up is possible. However, Local representative's email address which they gave me is wrong. It returned every time. Moreover, representatives address and fax # in their website is really weird. With that address, nobody can find that place and area code of fax number is not exist. Moreover, their live camera of Seoul shows wrong time. It's two hours faster than time zone. Though local address is apartment, live camera seems to show a kind of office.
And they also accept paypal for international customer but maximum is $200. All of their items are over $200. Why they do that?
There are lots of suspicious things. Only pros. thing is their respond is really fast.

I will keep contact with them but now I think they are scammer.

    Here's part of their policy

"Your Right to Use the Site and Its Contents
Unless specified otherwise, the Site is provided only for your personal and non-commercial use. You may not distribute, display, exchange, modify, publish, produce, sell or transmit audio, video, text, images, software, graphics, logos, data and other material (“Content” ;) obtained from this Site. As long as you comply with the Terms, MobileInc.co.uk grants you a non-exclusive, non-transferable, limited right to enter, display and use this Site. You agree not to interrupt or attempt to interrupt the operation of this Site in any way.

Unless the sub site you are accessing prohibits, you may download, without removal of any copyright or trademark notices or other notices, one (1) copy only of the Content for your personal use."

That doesn't make sence with what they are selling. Also it state in another section that they WILL share you information with 3rd party so expect to get spam if you give them any information about yourself. I skim through their policy page and some section seems like it was written by a five years old. Others looks like it was copied from another company website and change the company name to MobileInc.co.uk.
    ----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Also, the webcam page seems to have UPDATED time and DATE but not the picture, really. Everytime i hit refresh, the time adjust to the current time; impressive. But hey, this one dude has been standing at the copy machine for 3 hrs? Gimme a break. Also, the camera says it's 2PM in London and no one is in the office. o_0

*sigh* I guess it was too good to be true... :(

And the worse thing is that stupid ad continues to taunt me every time I come here  :p
