Staples plans to sell the Sony VAIO VGN-NW270F/S Laptop on Black Friday for only $649.98, $150 off the regular price.

The specs listed below are NOT entirely accurate since the model that will be sold on Black Friday has the 9600M GT graphics card (GDDR2).

I took a look at the Sony Vaio last night and this morning at two separate stores and I am impressed with its style and features, including a chiclet keyboard which some critics claim rivals the famed Mac keyboards. It also has Blu-Ray.

This laptop has high ratings from CNET (4/5) and PCMAG (4/5).

I'm sorry I guess I'm really confused by your post. None of the NW series have NVidia cards. They are all ATI 4570 and that is only in the NW 250,275,280.

Believe me, I really want to to find out what you are saying is true. Where did you see this? Do you have an accurate link or pic mentioning the 9600 GT? I will be rushing out Friday morning to snag this if you are correct.

I have not seen this deal (with the 9600M GT) posted online by Staples. I happened to come across the info concerning the graphics card when I took a look at the Sony Vaio at a Staples store on Bald Hill Road (Rte 2) in Warwick, Rhode Island last night. The promo card attached to the Sony claimed that it has the 9600M GT graphics card and this was confirmed by a sales rep and computer tech at the Staples in Warwick. For information and confirmation of this deal, please call the Warwick store at 401-828-3737.

I am not sure if this deal applies to every store.

Oh yeah I definitely checked that ad out in your Black Friday thread! I was just floored by the original post about the OP's claim that this NW270 has a completely different graphics card. All NW 270's I've ever seen are Integrated and that's also the specs from Sony's site itself. I'm currently looking at the NW and FW and if what the OP said was accurate, I'd be camping out in front of my local Staples.

I am currently online with an agent at customer support at Staples.com. I will post her response here after I receive more info concerning this topic.

Staples confirmed that the Sony Vaio that is on sale this week does NOT have the 9600M GT graphics card.

The agent informed me that Sony sent Staples the wrong promo card for the model that is on sale. She also said a call will be made to the store in Warwick, Rhode Island to tell them to pull the promo card and that a message will be sent out to the Staples marketing department to make sure this is not a store wide issue.

I hope they contact customers who may have bought the Sony Vaio thinking that it comes with the aforementioned graphics card! If it was not for this forum and for people like Serg and others then I would have been standing in line on Black Friday morning making a terrible purchase.

Oh well! My search for a laptop continues.

Thanks for clearing that up. You and me both on the laptop search...

I did want that to be true, but now I can sleep in on Friday!

@agnusdei: you should write a letter to Staples and Sony and briefly describe what you went through and the fact that you caught the error and personally addressed it to an agent at customer support. Mention this thread. Why let the agent get all the credit? You might at the very least get a cheap coupon out of it! My dad wrote to these companies all the time whenever something like this came up and he occasionally received some kind of deal like a coupon in return.
