I have one, I show ~28MB/s transfer (read) with HDTune its a very handy thing, would not have survived without it when it comes to transferring things to my EEE from my PC, often times large files like 4gb iso's that a smaller flash drive would not hold.

Also it was the usb flash drive that allowed me to boot acronis to clone my hdd so I could upgrade it.

Transferring 4gb over to it right before you asked :p

Soon as its done will run the test.

Probably not going to be a speed demon but good for its high capacity and for that price not much to complain about.

The EEE = no optical drive so its been worth its weight in gold (bad expression tho since its so light :p )

Have you never had a lucky bag!

When i was a kid you use to buy a plain white bag containing sweets and maybe a small toy, but you never knew what was in it!

I am referring to a lot of flash memory manufactures hide the performance of there products.

    Regards

    John.

I guess it is not bad for the price, still wish the write speed was a bit better.

I have had lucky bags, and since we are sharing information...

Its almost never a good idea to go for a cheap flash drive on ebay :p its one of the highest "scam" items. You may not only get something slower than molasses but they know how to make a 1gb flash drive say is 8gb in windows and then you wonder why its not letting you transfer a 2gb file on it.

    Hi.

I got my 2 x 8gb from 7dayshop.com and have did the speed test.

I got 29mb read and 14mb write, so a bit slower on the read but slightly faster on the write, where it counts.

    Regards

    John.

Just to let you guys know I got an 8GB SanDisk Cruzer Micro from a proper retailer and not off eBay, very dissapointed with it.

Read speeds are great as expected (29MB/s) but write is an abysmal 6.8MB/s MAX in ATTO Disk Benchmark. Transferring photos and videos it's even slower, Vista measures a measly 4MB/s. This is not acceptable for an 8GB USB drive.

I have the 1GB SanDisk Cruzer Micro I bought last year, looks identical (black with the amber light) and it writes at 12MB/s. SanDisk are using cheaper flash memory with faster writes and slower reads. What's the bloody point!

I'm going to return it, and now begins the adventure of finding a fast drive.

Be warned, the SanDisk quality has dropped, stay away!
