    If you connect it to your computer with USB and your computer is networked and you SHARE these drives, would that not make them network accessible for 20 bucks?

    Yes it is a good buy if you have use for the device.

    I have a regular HD dock (ie, not duplicate drives or whatever) and they are very practical although sometimes spotty in the performance.

    What you say is all true and a good buy if reliable (never used them).

    Still they are not NAS - Network Attached Storage - in that they require an additional interface to attach to a network (i.e. a computer).

    They fall into the catagory of DAS - Direct Access Storage.
