The Plextor M3 256GB SSD is on sale at Newegg right now for 199.99 after rebate or $239.99 before rebate. At either price its a nice deal. It has a Marvell controller so no SandForce worries. Its one hell of a drive. I highly recommend it.

Edit: It also has a 5 year warranty

I should have my cash tomorrow after a Crags List sale. I've never head of Plextor, any thoughts on this versus M4 versus 830?

Considering that it has a Marvell controller, it should be a nice and reliable drive to own. The Plextor M3 is sort of a dark horse brand in the SSD market, sort of how Nissan is compared to Toyota/Honda.

This Plextor uses the same controller as the Crucial M4, so it should be good there. Way back when, I had a Plextor 24/10/40A CD-RW drive as it was one of the only drives of the time that could create a 100% working backup of discs protected by Safedisc 2.

Interesting analogy considering the fact that I drive a Nissan (though I also own a Honda for the family).

I wonder if I can get Amazon to do a price match with Newegg. Can you chat with a sales agent for stuff like that?

I just found out I can get 10% off from my Newegg Business account. But they don't show the rebate on the Newegg Business site and they don't offer chat sales support. If the rebate works, I'd get the drive for $175.99.

Anandtech review. Looks like a pretty good drive. Slightly faster than the Crucial m4 on average and draws less power. 5 year warranty too.

    I just bought it.

    Newegg Business Price: @239.99
    NeweggBusiness 10% Code MEMKMYTEN = -$24
    Plextor Rebate: -$40
    Final Price: $175.99

I hope the rebate works. If not, I just paid $216 for a $199 item. :(

Loving these deals. I'm waiting for when I can snag a 256gb for 200 after tax, so it looks like I won't have to wait too long.

I think I'm going to cancel my order from Newegg Business. I'm skeptical that I'll get the rebate. I noticed that while it is a manufacturer's rebate, they require you to have purchased it from "Newegg.com". Most rebate programs are sticklers for details, so I can just see them denying mine since it was from "NeweggBusiness.com".

EDIT: I just got my shipping notice. I guess I own the drive now and I'll just have to test the rebate.
