That's not a bad price, too bad I hate MIRs though.

It's a great price, but I have a bit of buyer's remorse now that it's useless on my Dell E1705. It doesn't help either that the PCMCIA->USB adapter costs several times the cost of the card itself. I also don't want to invest in the USB sound card since that's not compact (and not as good quality as this one).

It works great, but to all those interested in buying, make sure you can use it with your laptop. Sidenote: Dell offers a pre-installed SB Audigy card inside most Dell laptops now, so go with that for a similar experience for just $20-$30 more.

I'm very happy with my Audigy 2 NX sound card; and having used the ZS as well I can't tell a difference in the quality. I don't really mind portability since I just leave it plugged into my Docking Station so I can use it with my 5.1 speakers when I'm at home and just leave it there and not have to do anything to use it or any of my other accessories other than putting the notebook on the dock.

Thats a really good price for another great creative labs product! Good find Chaz! ;)

What dell offers is just software. It's still an integrated sound card. The extra software and drivers does make a difference though.

Dell's 'Integrated Audigy' is software as noted, and doesn't do much. It is a rip-off essentially. There have been compatability issues with certain games.

I placed my order for the Audigy - I also had an 8% coupon to there too, so it was $78.20. ;)

The "Integrated Audigy" does help a little according to some posts in the Dell forums. But it definitely isn't the same as a dedicated sound blaster audigy.

An extra 8% off coupon... you really got quite the deal! ;)

I've used the "integrated Audigy" that Dell offers. I can't stand the thing. I uninstalled it actually. The driver is nice, it makes it sound a little better, but the software is crap. It runs like 5 extra processes at all times and doesn't do anything. Besides, the real reason that I wanted an upgraded sound card is to run 5.1, and with the integrated sound there's no way to do that without running the speakers in matrix mode so that they just simulate it.

Chaz, are you going to run the Audigy in your HEL80? If so, will you test the mic volumes? I've not succeeded in getting my mic working correctly for online games.

If it gets here before I send the HEL back, I will let you know how it goes.

great deal - thanks to Chaz -

Looks like Creative will probably be releasing a new version of the PCMCIA notebook sound card pretty soon...maybe an xFi one?
