I was this close || to pulling the trigger, but hesitated since I was after 60GB drive. Now it's $250, while Mushkin 60GB Callisto Deluxe (roughly same performance) is $145.

I still might go with Mushkin. BTW, there's tons of compains about OCZ rebates not going through or taking an eternity. Just FYI.

 

I bought one of this this weekend. I have not had a problem with OZC rebates in the past, and you can track your rebate online. I can't wait to see how fast this drive is. I hope my M17X R2 won't hold it back

 

Grats, it was a great deal! But for m17x, why not just get 60GB for OS and stuff...? I was tempted to get 120GB because it would be the only hard drive in my (portable) laptop.

 

I thought the same way, but this deal was pretty good, and I can load a few primary games on it too.

 

I've had problems with getting rebates from OCZ, I sent in my rebate a month before it needed to be in, and they sent me an email saying they received it past the cutoff date, and showed the postal service stamp dated a MONTH after I sent it out. I'm not sure what happened, but I've given up on rebates now.

 

Well, in the worst case it's $235 which is still pretty decent, since it's a high performance (280MB/s read/write) SSD.

But in that case the difference between 60 and 120GB is $90.

I hate you guys!! Seriously tho... one of the main reason is that 60GB Mushkin with same "specs" is $145. So for 50% more price you get 100% more space.

 

and performance probably this is one of the fastest ssd out there right now, or does the mushkin use the sandforce core also?

I want to order so bad but I do not need the tip of the iceburg in performance I will hold out for maybe a slower larger capacity drive for the same price point.

Most people just need OS/Programs on the SSD but I want room for my games too, and if possible even room for video editing and things.

I cancelled mine, went to the OCZ forums and didn't like what I saw. YMMV but I was not reassured by OCZ's customer service and product support. Went with a Patriot Inferno instead...

Rebate works just filled it out, of course I have to do the mail-in part and actually wait for the $30 prepaid debit card.


The only problem I think I will have with this SSD is that I couldnt afford it and now having one in my laptop will make me have to get another for my desktop. I also have to figure out how I am going to trim my 500gb used on my C: down to under 120GB. The vast majority of it is installed games for my G73 review but I still will have over 200GB easy after taking out the games.

 

If you're referring to the sleep issues, it isn't specific to only the OCZ... it's a problem that's plaguing all Sandforce 1200 SSDs. I had that problem with my first Corsair F120, but the second one had the newer firmware and I haven't had any problems. I dunno if Patriot or OCZ have released firmwares to fix the problem?

 

Im looking into something that could be a problem.

on the rebate site for OCZ that rebate has date range for 17-20

There is a new rebate OCZ2-8013 that has the new date range from the 17-30 however its for the 3.5" drivers not the 2.5" once so I just noticed this.

I just ordered one of these babies last night for my new m11x... But I seriously hope the boot time is faster than what you're experiencing flynnaz. The HDD that came with my m11x boots in about that time, maybe even a little quicker

I just loaded the newest Intel Chip set driver this morning I was using the MS driver. I have not had time to time my load time yet, I will post tonight. I am happy so far, very snappy, on my lappy

It's pretty much the largest shopping day of the year. The day when most all Retailers online & B&M have really good sales at %'s at nearly 50% off (if not more). And, people get up really early and go for the "hunt" for the good deals.

If you're not in the US, you probably won't get any of those sweet juicy discounts. It's the US shopping day when americans get wild (more then usually ) and a lot of companies offer pretty nice discounts.

As Cin' said, yeah if you follow american news you'll see people literally camping outside the stores. I think that's pointless, as there's tons of discounts available online. From what I remember last year there weren't that many as year or two before. But nevertheless people will go shopping because they "think" everything is on a discount.
