WHAT? When I posted it I didn't keep track of it. If that's with MS LiveSearch Cashback it will be damned!

Because the basic barebone is listed at $1400 at newegg and that's without the p8400, 2gb ddr3 ram, and the hd. For $800, this was the sweetest deal I have ever seen. It pains me that i didn't get it in time :(

I wouldn't get too bent out of shape. That is the single card (no Xfire) version of that system. Honestly, the Whitebook/M17 with a single card is not worth it. It really shines in Xfire. Without Xfire, it is basically a glorified 9800M gts performance wise.

In addition, it is the cache neutered P8600 @ 2.26ghz (3870's are very heavy CPU dependent, and really start to kick in after 2.53ghz and higher), only a 160GB HD and 2GB of memory and no OS (Well, no OS isn't that bad) and the stock PoS Realtek WiFi 2x2 card. And it was sold without the components/system being tested verified.

There are ways to deal with what you just worried. However, that's the customizable machine which goes all the way to QX9300, all the cards with M88XT and whatnot AND you can overclock the CPU and GPU. I just wish I got it, and sell the P8400 and 2GB DDR3, picking up QX9300 and 4GB/8GB DDR3, then waiting for the latest GPU on this thing. Very flexible deal!

I can't imagine waiting on a GPU and/or the cost for the Whitebook. In Xfire, the Whitebook is still top 5. As a single card system, it is largely wasted.

The included components are really just fillers. To make a Whitebook shine, Xfire is a must, as is a decent CPU and some decent memory which memset can optimize.

All the hassle to sell the components, purchase more, sit around with a gimpy gaming system (Single 3870 @ 1920x1200? Ouch) which really cuts into its here and now potential.

I mean, you have 3 systems in your sig with another on the way. As it stands, that Whitebook would get beaten by your M15x and just destroyed by your M1730 you have on order. It is basically on par with your 7811.

Was it a deal? Yeah, but moreso for the barebones and as a midline laptop that its heft doesn't match its gaming prowess as presented.

I am not saying yours on eBay is not a deal, but the fact that the loaded laptop is not pocket-friendly cannot be denied.

For me, it is more the issue of the single GPU which really is a deal breaker for a Whitebook. The size and mass of the Whitebook is really wasted on a single card solution. And waiting for (IE: Praying) for 4870 cards down the road at what cost assuming the will fit as is?

Meh, not my cup 'o tea. :)

BUT, price wise compared to retail price? Sure, it's a, "deal," on pricing alone and the seller wanted to obviously wash his hands quickly of his purchasing mistake.

I saw it when he had it listed yesterday at $899.00 and went, "meh, pass." I'm not one to turn down a deal and use or resell, but it didn't get me over excited. ;)
