    This might not be the cheapest or fastest laptop but I think it's a darn good buy: Compaq CQ50Z.

    This laptop is now equipped with:
    1.9 GHz Turion X2 QL-60
    3GB RAM
    160GB
    Nvidia 8200M
    The rest is pretty standard, 6 cell battery, DVD-RW, microphone, 15.4" WXGA

    I thought it was a good buy because it has good HP quality in it and it's a clear step above normal budget boxes.

    This eMachines is not the compaq in the heading but I thought I'd add it. It's only $330, it's the same one that'd been talked about when it was priced for $380... wait after black friday for better deals? Seems so :)
