And I thought the old 240GB OCZ Vertex LE for $250 had been a great deal. Sigh.

How does this compare to the M4 256GB in terms of speed, reliability and warranty support?

Here is a review. I personally am waiting for the samsung 830 to reach this price level but it seems to be a decent drive.

Hard forum has way to get $25 off of any purchase of $75 or more at staples. You can use that to get a 64gb M4 for around $60.

I don't know if it's reasonable or not, but for some reason I'm a very particular to either the Samsung or the Crucial SSDs even though a majority of the manufacturers garner pretty solid reviews.

Samsung, Intel, and Crucial are all safe bets. So if you want to be confident, go that route. Otherwise if you see a good deal, investigate a bit. I got a WD SiliconEdge Blue 256GB SSD for $200. Of course I didn't flinch when I saw it for that price, but it turns out it's a pretty decent reliable SSD. Not the fastest, but it's definitely faster than any notebook hard drive.

I got one of those a few months ago for a similar price, yep took a risk, but so far it's paid off, the drive has been rock solid. For those who are wondering, this drive hardware wise is pretty much the same as the highly priced Vertex 3 Max IOPS. The Sandforce controller seems to like 32nm toggle nand better for some reason. I'm running it on an Asus P8P67 Pro motherboard in case you were wondering.

Here's a CMD bench for those who are interested.
