    Anybody know a good deal on a laptop under $500 ?
    I want a second laptop for everyday work and that i can travel with.
    It need not be too loaded but should be light weight..

    did not find any good deals going on in the B&M stores for $500 under laptops.

    Would appreciate it if anyone can tell me good place to get a nice deal on notebooks

    I have an old Ibm a20m up for sale...but you need a battery for it. Everything works great 500mhz 256 ram...when i use it i just leave it plugged into the wall. Let me know

    Fry's sometimes sells Great Quality notebooks at this price range, I not sure if it actually "great quality" though.

    You'll want to look at Sunda sales circulars
    & settle for Celeron or get refurbished.

    Can you stretch above $500?

    See Office Depot's $619 Centrino HP ...
    this looks hard to beat - clearance, if available,
    thru 5/28.

    If you're travelling, you'll want battery & that means
    Centrino/Pentium M.

    There's a $30 coupon which may not be valid in-store so
    price may be 649.

    Otherwise, consider Medion on sale at some unusual
    places like Sam's Club or a grocery chain - supposedly
    they're reliable little boxes, white plastic.

    Or watch places like this for deals.
    and - Learn the quarterly/seasonal Retail sales cycle & local
    advertising.
