I need to get a Laptop for the wife's new job. It has to have have windows Xp, the company's software does not work with Vista. Right now the best deal i found was a black friday ad for Office depot. Its an Hp 15.4" with 3 gb of ram, 160 hard drive and dual core processor for $359. I would then have to buy Xp from compusa for $89. That comes to $450. Has anyone seem something cheaper out there?

You can get any dell from their business line with xp as a downgrade, however it wont be cheaper than that, but it will be a lot better quality.

If you want XP you will have to install it yourself, buy a netbook, or by business laptop--which are rarely cheap.

I have to agree with the above stated comments. Either a netbook, or business laptop with xp downgrade, or get like a sager where you can configure it with XP if you decide.

Companies like Dell, Hp, will have business laptops with the XP downgrade. Sager Clevo will let you configure it with XP whatever you decide.

Just remember, if you install XP yourself, you'll need drivers.

Yes, depending on were you buy they may actually have drivers that you can easily download for XP. Worst Case you will have to go to the manufacture of each device and find drivers that way.
