Komputerbay (through Amazon) is selling its own brand of 16 GB DDR3-1333 for $65.99 with free shipping (2-day for Prime members, super saver for everyone else). Reviews seem a bit mixed, but because Amazon has a terrific return policy, you don't have much to lose.

This is RAM I would not touch with a 10-foot pole. Well, actually I did, and thankfully Amazon's return policy prevented me from suffering for it. Bought one package, tested bad with Memtest86. Returned it for exchange, second set also tested bad with Memtest86. Also look at the reviews where people report having blue screens weeks down the road, after thinking everything is fine. I used to think that RAM is RAM, but please, buy a name brand, or if you buy this, test it for several hours before declaring it good.

I agree. I bought some of this KombuterBay RAM for my niece's laptop (not this 2x8GB but 2x2GB) and went through two exchanges before I got a set that worked. Then it started having problems a week or so later, so I just returned it altogether. Thanks to Amazon's free exchange/return policy but sometimes it's just better to spend the extra cash. Buy any of the regular name brands and you're usually OK. I have a feeling they get the rejected components really cheap and just let the customer be their QA.

I was tempted by Komputerbay when I was shopping for RAM recently. I did some searches and found a few threads on various forums. Invariably the first one or two replies mentioned how the photos made it appear that they were selling Samsung RAM under their own name. Then you see several posts form people who got burned, some of which said the RAM they received was definitely not Samsung RAM. I agree with the above, don't buy this RAM.

I bought the same ram off ebay a few months ago, never had an issue myself. But for the extra money, name brand ram would be a safer bet.

They sell a hodgepodge of rejects and put a label on it and hope it works for customers. They gamble with 3rd rate hardware and you probably wouldnt even get 2 matching chips.
