    The G1 versus the G2?

The G2 has more (but slower) embedded RAM presumably to improve overall performance. It also supports (or will support) the TRIM command which allows the SSD to erase previously used sectors of the drive, that are no longer in use, in advance of your needing to write to them again. Windows 7 is, as far as I know, also the only Windows operating system that supports TRIM. I'm pretty sure MS has no plans to update XP or Vista with that feature.

This item was on zipzoomfly for $230 and a rebate of $30 last week

Still at $200 it is too much for 80gb

You're paying to get low latencies, high speeds, and resistance to physical shock that no traditional hard drive can match.

True prices are a bit high for the storage, but there are other benefits. Prices are finally getting somewhere that consumers are actually willing to buy, which sets the ball in motion for further driving the price of these down.

$200 also happens to be the upper limit of what I am willing to pay for a computer component upgrade, so it's finally in the range of my budget. For the large performance benefits over even the fastest hard drives, including Raptor desktop drives, I think SSDs are as a whole approaching the "worth it" point for many people.

Remember the 36gb raptor I still have mine. Running great, but loud (always have).
