Good looking out man! But while thats a great deal, I would still recommend getting a 360 over a PS3 any day. Its a much better gaming platform.

Rachet and clank tools of destruction is 1 game lol. Make sure you patch your assassin's creed since it freezes ps3s.

I don't mean to add fuel to the fire, but honestly, if I were to spend my hard earned $$$ on a gaming console, I would choose the XBOX 360. It has a much larger library of games, XBOX Live is the best online gaming service with great downloadable content, and best price with comparable components.

But PS3 will probably gain steam now that its getting cheaper and several unique titles are being developed for it.

I'm not quite sure why people are even telling others what they would get... Considering the op already BOUGHT the ps3 from dell and is just saying that there is a good deal for those wanting to buy it. This was not started as a recommendation thread, so it shouldn't become one...

Exactly. Thanks for sharing this deal. I hope other Canuckistanians (yes, I went there) take advantage of this :p

Some people seem to think their opinion is relevant to every situation. These people are called "know-it-alls".

People should put a "flamewar potential" in stars around the title. GET A WII, lol, jk. What does 470 canadian dollars equate to in US dollars?

There's no flamebait in this thread (other than from the MS fanboys). It's a bargain thread. No opinion is being solicited. It's information about a deal, so that anyone interested can take advantage of exceptional savings. Anyone that would choose to flame such a thread doesn't deserve to be heard.

Nice, I just picked up a PS3 myself. I lucked out and went to CompUSA (they are all closing as many of you know) and got the 40GB one for $360 USD before tax. I picked up Ratchet and Clank as well, such a fun game, and a nice break from the normal FPS PC games I play. :)

FYI, if you didn't know, I believe the 40GB version has a die shrink which will help keep temps down.

Yea, I didn't either until I read up on things. Only downside is the PS2 backward compatibilty was lost, which isn't a big deal to me, but may be to others. :)

me neither, but if its just a software emulator im sure it could be loaded up in a firmware patch or such, or hacked even.

Probably, I think one of the reasons they are doing that is because they want people buying PS3 games, not PS2 to helps sales. I think I read something like that somewhere anyway. :)

well that would make sense, ps2 games really look bad lately anyways, with the exception of god of war. im buying a PS3 to play PS3 games not to play PS2 games

Folding proteins. The PS3 can pretty much do it out of the box. He is talking about Folding@Home. See link below, very, very cool stuff. :)

    http://folding.stanford.edu/

@techguy.....do you leave your PS3 folding for long periods of time?

Thank you. Sometimes I forget there are people that have access to the internet and would generally be considered "enthusiasts" but don't know what Folding is.

24x7 :) It's on my PC desk and running advanced Work Units so it's definitely audible if it's the only thing in the room that's on, but the sound coming out of it is more like "moving lots of air" than "high-pitched whine" so it's not horrible.

Certainly won't be as loud as my desktop with 5 80mm case fans. He he! ;)
