My local BestBuy has them for $1150 straight up right now.

    Specs I remember:
    Core 2 Duo P8400
    nVidia GeForce 8800M GTS
    17" WUXGA
    4GB RAM

Is it still WUXGA? Apparently the newer versions do in fact have the stated 1440x900 res.

This one was most definitely WUXGA. I even popped open the display properties and double-checked.

Just because the display model is WUXGA doesn't mean the ones in the boxes are. Most likely the displays are WUXGA because the first box we get goes on the floor, and all subsequent boxes go in the cages. There should be no more WUXGA 7805's at best buy unless they are display model's (in which case by telling them that the wrong product is on display you may be able to purchase the display).

That's what I was thinking. Dang, why are they going back to the low-res screens??

I can't see much reason to believe they're pulling a bait and switch, even by mistake. I can tell you that this machine was not on display a couple of weeks ago. /shrug

I recommended the 7805-u to a friend at another forum. He lives on the west coast. His laptop was WUXGA. He phoned his buddy on the east coast to get one, and his friend's laptop was WXGA+
    Apparently they found the mistake.

I wonder if they had planned on using 1440x900 but wanted to clear out the excess WUXGA screens from the 7811? Or it was a mistake...
