    until 1/29...

Nice portable for a low price.

The only problem is that this particular hard drive, unlike the Toshiba externals, requires the use of two USB ports, one for power, the other for data, though some users report that their notebooks have no problem powering the drive through a single USB.

I'm seriously considering getting this as I carry externals with me, loaded with my DVD movies/TV shows, when travelling.

I have one of these drives and it does not need two usb ports. I used it on a regular basis in two different notebooks and several desktops with only one usb port plugged in. By the way, it is a fantastic drive and I highly recommend it at this low price.

Thanks for the feedback, Superhub. I just picked up one of these at my local Fry's this evening. Interestingly, they had the Seagate 320gb for 129.99 (20 bucks more than this 500gb).

    Thanks again.
