it's either a scam or the wrong price has been associated to it, and they will not honor the price if it's off by $1000

Probably a typo because there other laptops seemed normally priced. They probably won't ship if ordered.

    It's almost certainly a scam.

Here's an email I received from the "company". As soon as they mention western union, my hackles rise

Also note that the icons on their website ("registered cnet seller, etc, etc,) are all fake

Very shady indeed. I would go so far as to look up their DNS and see to whom it is registered.

The fact that they want money transfer makes it obviously a scam. Once you send them actual money it is much harder to get legal recourse if they don't send it. With a credit card, you haven't paid any real money and the credit card company can investigate if they don't send the computer.

The phone no is invalid and the address is not a valid NZ address anyway. That "postcode" they use is used for p.o. boxes in NZ and the street does not exist, so keep out.
The ugly part of all these is that I found the website by clicking on a advertisment on the top of one of the pages here on the notebookreview website. The link was something like "cheaplaptopsforless.??.com" and there was a redirect.

And if you hit the Buy button, it asks for all your info, including CC number and its not secure, even if it was legit, I would still stay away.

You mean ship FROM Nigeria :) I wonder how they do 2-day shipment from NZ to the USA, is that possible?
