I did, except i got a 2915 Intel card rather than the 2200. I will be upgrading a lot of it afterwards. 100GB HD, possible a 7900GTX, 2GB RAM, etc.

Whe I tried to configure it the total came to $1688. But then if you click through fatwallet, you will get a 3% rebate. And you can buy a $35 off $300 + coupon off ebay. Making the price $1602.

Yea nick I missed un-checking the wireless card. The total is now $1649. You guys who can't get it to go under $1888 are forgetting to go to the 2nd page and uncheck the 2 year warranty and downgrade to a 1 year warranty. Then on the 3rd page uncheck the dell XPS backpack. I just tried it and got $1649. Great deal!

I haven’t heard anything about XPS coming out with a Duo CPU, but I imagine in about half a year or less. Dell still needs to sell all of their remaining XPS M170's before they can put a new one out on the market. The new XPS will most likely have a Duo CPU and a Go 7900GTX or something. ;)

Look at your email and see what disscounts you got on your order to get it down that low, I got it for 1566 after tax 1703. Went to dell direct store and got extra 5% off for some deal they were having.

well I got it to 1498 without any exta coupons or anything

and whats so weird is that i unchecked the backpack but it still lists on system specs so maybe they would send it.

    I wish I had 1498 I would buy it.

I see now, Dell changed the prices to go lower yet. Go through the performance deals, and downgrade everything...warranty, microsoft office, etc.

My first question is about using fatwallet. It says you have to click to dell.com through their website to obtain the 3% rebate, but I can't find this deal on their website and can only get it by using the link in this post. Second, how do you get the 2% DPA discount. I signed up and was approved for credit with a Dell Preferred Account, but don't see anything about that discount. Third, the 35 off 300 coupon people keep mentioning you can find on ebay, I couldn't find one. I searched for "dell coupon," but none of those coupon amounts showed up. And my final question is about the wireless and bluetooth cards. I have a Linksys wireless G router and a bluetooth enabled phone, RAZR. Which card is the best to use with that router, and will the bluetooth card allow me to access my phone through the computer.
Thanks in advance for all your help

Oh yeah, also do you guys think it is worth the extra to go with 2 gigs of ram now, or wait til it really needs it and upgrade at that point. I'm not a huge gamer, but this is a dang good deal right now in my opinion. Also does anyone know how long this deal is gonna last, cuz I seen that their 10 days of deal day for mobile gaming is on Saturday, and obviously want the best deal I can get. Thanks again.

To get 3% from fatwallet.com you need to make an account there. Then click on the dell link from their site. It will then say that you are getting 3% cash back. As for the 2% dell preferred you need to ask dell about that one.

So once I click the dell link on the fatwallet site, I can then also click the link in this post and use that window to configure the laptop and still get the 3% rebate?

WOW! Dell lowered their prices on it again. I just configured the XPS M170 and the total came to $1349 w/ free shipping! Then you can buy a $34 off $300+ coupon off ebay then use fatwallet to get 3% cash back. If you do those to things the total will be $1275 shipped!

Also, have another question, about the OS. Which is better between the two, XP Home or XP Media Center Edition. Haven't heard a lot of good about the Media Center Edition, but just wondering which most of you would go for. Because I think I may order with this deal, depending on what tommorows deal is on their 10 days of deals, since it is mobile gaming day Saturday. Thanks for your opinions on this too.

Yea I have Windows Media Center 2005 on my XPS M140 right now. Its nice... I hardly ever use the Media features even though I have a remote and stuff. It's better then home in my opinion. Go for it! :)

By the way nickspohn.. did you get your XPS m170 yet?

I just ordered one now too, YAY. Replacing my Compaq desktop bought in December of 2000, 900 mhz, 384 mb Ram, 30 GB HD, and an amazing 8 MB Nvidia TNT2. I can't wait now. Final price $1459.89 with tax, $1374 pre-tax. Dropped everything down, except I opted for the 2915 wireless Card, as I did a little searching and seen many people saying it was much better, so at only an extra $25 I figured I might as well. Just can't wait, gonna be a huge step up, plus its mobile. Thanks again for all of your help, I'm sure I will be asking for more help when I get it here. Great site with very helpful people and great deal finders.

Edit: It just told me the delivery estimate is 4/21 to 4/25. Dang thats a long time.

It takes about 3 - 4 days to get to the carrier, and then the 2 day shipping kicks in

Silver, do you have a price quote number for your order? Apparently they will honor the deal, but as far as I know I don't have a price quote number even though I spent all weekend planning to order it Monday Morning.

If you don't have a price quote maybe silver02gt could give you a list of the specs and the final price and you could show that to dell. They should honor it.

I don't see anything about a price quote number, but I am PM'ing you a complete spec list and the final price, so maybe they will honor it like jasonck08 said. Again sorry you missed the deal and hopefully they'll honor it in this configuration for ya. Good luck man!!!

Oh and also, if they honor this then let me know or let the guy in this post know too, cuz it looks like he was gonna order one too.

    http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?p=1334056#post1334056

And the order status on mine says it is in the testing phase right now. Can't wait!!!

I still have the page/session cached from last night where I could remove stuff, but just going to try ordering a base system off the phone and pay a little bit more, but hope that maybe they'll honor their deal. As the deal hasn't changed, so much as they've become very inflexible now hehe. OH well, as I said even without this specific deal can still get a nice system for around $1500

You can still get the a deal better than what it was when the post was originally started, but not quite as good as the deal was at it's peak. Using the 10% off coupon you can get the base M170, which is the one that is listed throughout this post and listed at $1699, down to $1529.10, with free shipping, but plus tax where applicable. It still doesn't seem like a bad deal. Just thought I'd drop it out there even though it looks like vader got that deal.

Edit: I don't know what the price quote number is. Maybe someone else can tell us both.

Doubt price quote would work now, but yeah I'm planning to purchase for $1529, also if you do that route, you can upgrade to a 120gig hd for an extra $30, so it's not so bad.

Is there anyway to get dell.com to ship to Canada? After exchange rate and taxes coming into Canada, the $1529 is ~$2000 CDN, but the identical computer on dell.ca is ~$3000. :(

    darned monkeys!

Oops, my mistake, the Canadian one doesn't even have a DVD drive, and that's +$300 (?!). With tax, it's $1700 CDN more. I could almost get 2 from the US for the same price.. and I'm only 30 freakin' minutes north of Washington!
