Just got this in the mail from Dell, might be a small business deal.

    Dell Vostro
    Intel Core 2 Duo
2 GB Dual Channel DDR SDRAM
    80GB SATA HD
    CD/DVD Burner (DVD +/-)
128 NVIDIA Ge Force Go 8400M GS
Hight Def 15.4" Widescreen XGA + Display with True Life
1 Yr Hardware Warranty With mail in service

    With XP Home
    Evalue Code - 65024-BQPCKCD

    With Vista Home
    Evalue Code - 65024-BQPCKCV

    989 Reg - 340 Instant Savings = $649

Please let me know if this is a good deal, but for me 649 Seems like a very fair price, since it does include the extra ram, (the 599 deals had one gb with two dimms of 512 each)

That is an excellent deal, however, neither Evalue code seems to be working now. Any idea how to get a deal like this again? Anyone?

I spec'd out a very similar Vostro 1500 and it was over $200 more:

Personally, I would upgrade to the 8600M GT and the WSXGA+ screen but would like to start at that much lower price point. Would it be worth calling in and referring to this evalue code to see if they will match that price as long as I purchase significant upgrades beyond the evalue code's spec?

Seems to be same as the original post with a 120GB hard drive instead of the OP's 80GB, however, it's nearly $300 more

Would really like to know how the original poster got it so cheap.

EDIT: Correction. The quoted post two above this one has the 8600 and 120GB versus the OP's 8400 and 80GB. Even with adding these two options, the original poster's deal is still at least $150-200 cheaper than I can currently find it for.

Code doesn't seem to work. I entered 65024-BQPCKCD when I added the laptop to the cart, but I get an error. Coupon probably expired?

    The previous one:

Smaller 80GB HD but included 8400GS.

    Yours:

Larger 120GB HD but uses the X3100 integrated.

Same price. That's the only difference between the two offers.

Personally, I don't care about the 120GB HD. 80GB would have been plenty. I have plenty of networked storage if need be, so I'd have gone with the previous offer, added WSXGA+ (+$100), added the 8600M GT (+$100), added Bluetooth 2.0 (+$20) and been out the door for about $870 + tax.

Now, with your offer, I'd be forced to upgrade the hard drive in the base system, add WSXGA (+$100), add the 8600M GT (+$200), add Bluetooth (+$20) and be out the door for about $970 + tax.

Basically, the new offer forces you to pay $100 more for 120GB HD over the 80GB HD, but offers the X3100 integrated graphics option slightly cheaper.

What smooth said. SayWhat?, the configuration you link to I believe is available on the Dell website by clicking on Vostro 1500. It's still active and has not changed. The directlink is no longer available. Hopefully there will be another coupon up soon but I'm doubtful as this model has been creeping up in price over the last several weeks.

When I asked, "Which one would you choose if they were both available?", I meant that as food for thought for anyone who may have felt left out of the original deal valid Sept 6 through the 19th. The current $649 offer seems just as good; bigger hard drive but a different video card. There's always a trade-off. As usual, the buyer tries to find the best deal for their needs.

    Here's the current $649 http://configure.us.dell.com/dellstore/config.aspx?c=us&cs=04&kc=6W300&l=en&oc=bqdwk7x&s=bsd

The hard drive upgrade from 80 to 120 runs $45 with the video card adding about $100. The expired offer saved an additional $50 dollars (in Dell terms).

It's not just a different video card, though. It's the difference between discreet graphics card (128MB NVIDIA® GeForce™ 8400M GS) and an integrated one (Intel® Integrated Graphics Media Accelerator X3100). Not that you'll be tearing it up in QuakeWars with the 8400, but will have dedicated graphics which will make everything run smoother but, consequently, use more battery power.

And I do feel left out. I would have bought that deal so I'm very much in the same boat. Going to be purchasing friday or monday. Hoping either another coupon is released or the Dell Reseller in my area put my order in for quote yesterday and was approved like he said he would. :\

yes the link was very helpfull because it saves 50 off when configuring the notebook parts.
I saw it expires on 19 Oct so I put my order just before the day ends and I checked all available links , coupons for HP and Dell. For the same configuration Dell is cheaper and I think better in build design than HP.

Thanks for the Guy who posted this link,
Im glad I choosed DELL instead something else.

I just noticed something. I had received the same mail offer listed in the first post. The specs listed XGA+ Display with TrueLife, but I used the link provided by CitizenPanda. Reviewing my order confirmation email, I see the display is "XGA LCD Display with TrueLife". There's no + after XGA. I think CitizenPanda's link was for a different offer than the one in the first post. Is there a noticeable difference between XGA and XGA+?

Yes, I managed to get a Dell CSR on the phone and they said what nizzy1115 posted. CitizenPanda's link was for another offer (I didn't bother to write down the number) and anyone who used it expecting to get XGA+ is going to be disappointed. "Sir, you used a link provided by someone who didn't know what they were posting. Dell is not responsible for that." I agree with them and I'll probably cancel mine Monday.
