I know Dell recently had a 30% off sale on select Inspiron notebooks, but I've heard they also have up to 40% off sales at times :base: . . .

Does anyone know when such 30% - 40% off sales typically occur (Holidays, January, June?) & do they also ever apply to XPS notebooks?

-BTW Qs  - Do you feel there is a point of diminshing marginal returns on RAM for Win XPs (e.g. 1 GB vs 2 GB) if one likes to work with many open multimedia files? Will there be no successor to the Inspiron 9300 until the next Windows release (which hopefully will handle 1920 x 1200 native resolution text across all programs better on 17" screens)?

Thanks for your feedback  ,

Dell sales seem random. I've seen 45% off once. These types of sales don't last long. Sales on XPS notebooks are rare.

I was browsing the other forum and found a 47% discount on a dell 9300.

    http://www.notebookforums.com/showthread.php?t=118689

Driguy is right... By the looks of the discussion there, it is random and I don't know If it still existent.

According to one... It is the best deal Dell had for a long while....

    Hope this helps you.

Wow, that deal looks Nice but what's the deal with EPP?

"ALL ORDERS ARE SUBJECT TO APPROVAL AND ACCEPTANCE BY DELL. Offer subject to your employer's continuing participation in the Dell Employee Purchase Program. Pricing, specifications, availability or other terms of offer may be withdrawn or changed without notice. Taxes, fees, shipping, handling and any applicable restocking charges are extra, and vary. Valid for U.S. Dell EPP new purchases online only. Dell cannot be responsible for pricing or other errors, and reserves the right to cancel orders arising from such errors."

I'd be bummed to have my order cancelled. Offer ends 11/27/05, 11:59pm CT so if you know about this EPP issue, your feedback would be much appreciated...

As I understand, the EPP is if you are employed in a company which has a "dell program"

You have to put an employee ID... I think...

In the thread, there is a way to bypass it... I believe by choosing small business instead of home...

I just read the forum in passing...

    The details are inside there.

I hope you get the deal... ENJOY...:base:

Appreciate the heads up red chief :D. I got the cart to show me the right discounted prices on systems early this AM but I just felt uneasy about the EPP issue at this point.

A company I work for buys many Dells, doubt I'd get this info by midnight however. I would try to sign up a personal corp for EPP but again doubt I'd get a # by midnight. I could probably get it to go through but I'd rather have it done in a way that both Dell & I would definitely be cool with.

The other thread says the deal is over already  but haven't tried this hour because I'd like the EPP issue addressed better.

I'm not 100% in love with the 9300 design but the prices I saw in the cart had me willing to compromise.

In any case will definitely look further into EPP & if anyone has comments relevant to this thread, post away..
