There's been a lot of talk about the X220 as a Z alternative in the past. I just thought I'd give the heads up about the sale today. Lenovo is selling a bunch of the X220s for cheap today. i3's in the $500's, i5's in the $700's and i7's in the $800's. So if you were looking, today is the day to jump.

indeed the gpu is not up to it, but the screen quality, coupled with the build quality, and the extreme battery life, make up for it.

with the 9 cell, plus the slice, you can get easily 20hs of battery life

Exactly. The GPU is lacking. True enough. Personally, I find myself on Stamina 95% of the time. The build quality compared to a Z is beyond reproach. My 4 year old X60 is still going after years of abuse. I would literally toss it about in my backpack. Less than a year of very gentle use for my Z has left it my "beater" laptop. I've given up caring how it looks. The endless creaks and groans have become part of it's character. It continues to warp and the mouse button is flaking off in two spots now.
