    milestonepc.com

    cheaper. and check the reviews...
make sure you really want to go with the merom over the yonah at 2ghz
if you dont need the 64bit... it might not be worth the reduced battery life

As far as I can tell, Milestonepc does not offer the option to configure the Z96J with the T7200 processor, therefore there is no way for me to compare their prices.

also, meron has better battery life (since it is faster, it is able to throttle down to reduced speed sooner giving it better batter life)

and GenTechPC is great, thats where i got my laptop and Ken's service has been great. I'm mid RMA right now since my barebones died, but Ken has been helpful trying to get to the root of the problem and prompt with an approval for an RMA.

From Powernotebooks, I configured the Z96j to around ~1540 with 3 year warranty and 2GB's of RAM. I'd recommend powernotebooks if price is not much different, they have great service.

Well, somewhat long lurker here on these forums. Just registered to say that after several months of looking, I have ordered a S96j with core2 duo 2.0 ghz, and 2 gigs corsair ram from GenTechpc.

Until now I was only looking at highly portable gaming machines, such as the Dell xps 1210 and asus w7j. But when this thread game up and I read the review, I just couldnt resist a modular laptop along with nearly twice the gaming horsepower as those other 2 for slightly less money.

Possibly may have it by this weekend. May become a regular poster in some of the other forums then. Thanks for all your help, this place has been my first source of information while doing my research.

I am thinking about the same thing, but a Z96J from GenTechPC.

If you wanted the same gaming horsepower on a smaller machine, your only option was a W3J ...

But it doesn't matter now I guess :)

Yeah, that machine would have been nice, but was over $400 dollars past my price range and with only 1 gig of ram despite that. Oh wells cant get everything you want.

The dealer actually sells on Ebay under the name of alphaomega1368. If you look he has pretty good feedback selling laptops.

His personal email is [email protected]

Just tell him Jay from Texas refered you to him and he should hook you up. Just because he does not have any laptops listed does not mean he doesnt have any for sale. It took mine 1 day to build and 3 days shipping. Great experience for the money.

Yeah, that price is crazy. WIth media center and all I cant get anywhere near that price. If he is a dealer, what is the companies name? Does he only do ebay or does he have a websight to check out?

I believe he only does Ebay. He was very personable and polite. He even gave me his home and cell numbers to call him and ask any questions. I received everything brand new and he will customize your notebook any way you want.

I am sorry but the dv6000t cant touch the Z96J. The 7400 in the hp cant do near the graphic level of the x1600 in the asus and the screen resolution isnt that great either. The Z96j has a resolution of 1680 x 1050 compaired to the 1280x 800 in the hp.

I guess that yes, if you are not going to game or watch video or care what pics can look like the hp is just as good. But that is just my own opinion

Great. Now I cannot order a Z96J with T7200 from Gentech PC.

    (The website doesn't allow me).

    Go figure...
