Yeah, they always have it on and off. Good stuff. That's why I told peeps in another thread to wait until it came back down to $999 to actually buy it.

True. Most people say "Hey, you voided your warranty!"

    I reply with "what warranty?"

Seems as a good laptop and it doesn't cost to much. But I'm not sure about the hard drive space because I need a lot of space. I'm a movie editor and 320Gb just isn't enough for me. I will have to look for another laptop and I want to be 100% certain about my choice so this time I don't think I'll buy it. Thanks for the tip though.

Well most lappys only really go up to 500 GB anyway, and rarely for such a low price as this. If you need that much space, you're better off just buying a large external hard drive.

The Asus G-series can mount two hard drives. If you don't mind reinstalling your OS and drivers, you can have two 500GB hard drives.

And of course, unlike what I did, adding a new hard drive doesn't affect warranty.

You can add a 1GB via the 12.7mm optical bay using an optical bay caddy. So total would be:

    500GB + 500GB - 2.5" 9.5mm SATA HDDS via drive bays
1GB 2.5" 12.7mm SATA HDD via optical bay
= 2TB of storage!! Also, the optical bay HDD is hotswappable with the optical drive on an as needed basis. See sig if interested.

So wait, What is the warranty on this laptop? 1 year? 2 year? I need to know it will influence my decision on buying off either bestbuy or newegg. I have a choice between two laptops one is 800 dollars and a 220m with a slightly weaker CPU, but it says 2 year warranty on the info. I would rather buy the cheaper laptop with longer warranty than the bestbuy one with no warranty or short.

    Thanks!

It's a BB specific 1yr warranty, not the standard Asus 2yr global. Maybe consider a refurb + US$100 3yr Mackcam global warranty (war1009) instead?

    15.6" US$900 Asus G51VX-RX05 P7350-2.13 4GB 320GB GTX260M 1366x768 VHP 3.3/6cell

I'm in love with mine. I got it yesterday, but I'm wondering if I need a cooling pad?

When my brother got his, the GPU idles at like 50 and gets up to only 70-80 under load. It's not terrible.
