I read somewhere on here someone making an image of their HD with this program. Any opinions on how well this program works?

Another vote of confidence. It works very well and is dead simple to use but powerful at the same time. You can do full back-ups, incremental, the whole nine yards. If you like to play around with suspect software this is a must have. For $10 everyone should use it.

I just saw that deal and I jumped on it! It's a great software, very easy to use and has many functions. I suggest you try the trial version if you aren't sure about it. I'm sure it's gonna convince you to get it for such a low price :D

This kicks the crap out of Norton Ghost in ease of use. And it is very powerful and flexible, with a capable scheduler.

i wasn't planning to reply but with a deal like this and being a current user of Acronis Home, I cannot stress enough the functionality and ease of use of this, best there is even Genie and Norton dont stand a chance.

It doesn't replace it per se. Rather, Acronis is a method in which to backup the contents of a hard drive whereas with System Restore you're merely allowing Windows to "turn back" your PC to its last known working state before something went bad. But to directly answer your question, I use Acronis 11 and have disabled System Restore.

hi guys any tips for new user of this software? i have created an Acronis Secure Zone and created a full backup inside. How do I create recovery DVDs?
Also what would you recommend the Acronis Secure Zone size to be?

I read in the documentation that Snap Restore will not work for Vista OS - I thought this version supports Vista? Well, I guess not for this particular feature :(

    It works for me.

How does this program compare to ViceVersa Pro for general file backup? I really like that program but only have the trial ATM.

Curious if anyone has gotten the Boot CD (eitehr BartPE or otherwise) to work with newer laptops. Can't seem to get it to work with my new Dell Studio 15.

I had a MAJOR issue with this. I was upgrading my new EEE 1000H's from the stock 80gb drive to a 250gb drive and since they have no optical drive to use the recover disk I was going to clone them with Acronis and had to boot from the usb stick.

Well I was using the left port wich I found out has low voltage so it maybe did not want to boot from it, but I think the main problem was how windows formats the stick.

After I used HP's Boot Format tool it worked right away. I did not think anything of it, until the other day somewhere in my reading I saw a small entry on a net about a known issue using windows to format for a boot device.

google for the hp format tool and it should work. Hp also has a boot setup tool but for me it would not run for some reason (guess because the OS was vista or because its x64 that I was using to set it up)

Also make sure you cover the basics like have boot from usb enabled if you need too, and press the esc key usually to choose your boot device when you start up.

    Good Luck
