    Got this in an email from Microcenter this morning. With memory so cheap now, I'd bump the memory up to 2Gigs and put XP on there. It's a nice basic laptop.

    This isn't a bad deal. They actually have two of these machines out on display at my local MicroCenter.... one with the stock amount of RAM and one with 2GB of RAM - the idea being that you can see the performance difference with them side by side.

    Seemed like nice little machines too.

    Very true. Vista runs smoothly on 2gigs. On my 2ghz turion with 1gig, it was a bit slow with vista premium. Two gigs really is the sweet spot with Vista. I'm curious as to how Vista basic runs with 1gig, since it doesn't have the eye candy. But if you're not at least using premium, Vista really isn't worth the hassle IMO.
