I can't believe how cheap RAM has gotten. Pretty soon, 8GB sticks will be commonplace and cost as much as 4GB sticks do now. 2GB sticks will probably be obsolete soon.

And to think 4GB is STILL quite enough for most people.

2 gb is what many old netbooks need... unfortunately they can`t use bigger sticks.

The problem is many old laptop still use DDR2, and they are overpriced to make you upgrade to DDR3.

They're overpriced not to make you upgrade, but because very few are made in comparison to the volume of DDR3 sticks being churned out.

How often are you buying a new GPU/CPU/Board that's last gen? RAM is only cheap when made in bulk. And there's only a few manufacturers willing to still make it.

Older RAM has always been more expensive when compared to the same sized modules. Most other parts are also like this. As technology progresses, it generally is cheaper to manufacture products such as the shrinking in the manufacturing process has higher yields per wafer.

Nice price but I'm going to wait for now. I'm hoping to be able to double my current RAM for roughly double the price I paid for that 8 GB kit in the first place--so $60-80 for 16 GB.
