Hey all. I know how much we all love the Hitachi drives and I just picked one up for $57 shipped ($49.99 + $7 S&H) after the $20 rebate. Thought I'd give people a heads up as the price pushed me to add one to my ultrabay. Newegg

That is very interesting. I'll check a few benchmarks and I will definitely consider ordering one (it should be a lot faster than my 160GB 5400 RPM drive). At that price it is too hard to pass up.

Ordered. With 2nd day shipping it should arrive the same day as my x200 Tablet (Friday). I'll just make the recovery image and immediately test them out on the new drive. I can then put the 160GB drive I was going to use into my PS3 to quadruple its storage capacity. Thanks for the recommendation :).

You're very welcome and I'm glad I could help. Like I said, the deal seemed just too good to pass up even with holiday sales coming.

If you are shopping on Newegg, remember that through microsoft cashback you can save an additional 2.75%, better than nothing.

Just go to cashback dot com and find the new egg dealer link. That's it, hope this helped.

Only 5400rpm....based on using both speeds, I would go for a 7200rpm one. WD Scorpios 320GB are going for $85 I know many wouldn't think the $35 buck is worth it, which is understandable. But I have never regretted going 7200rpm, but have regretted 5400rpm.

In general, hard drive prices are in a free-fall...a month or two ago, 320GB 7200rpm drives were going for 110-130. Now it's almost half that.

If you could wait, I would - they will only get cheaper as the SSD onslaught continues.
