I went with the R1 myself, couldn't pass it up at $477, tax included.

It depends on how you would use it. If you're looking to run more modern games, and/or perform CPU-intensive tasks, it would certainly be worth it.

That being the case, I would definitely say go for it. I'm going to be using mine for office stuff and more old-school gaming so the extra $200 + tax wasn't worth it. Plus it would be easier to convince my wife that I got a good deal, and I can use the money I didn't spend to invest in an SSD.

    Good luck with the purchase.

Damn. Just bought yesterday. I have a 21 day, no restocking fee return policy. Time to call up and see if they can give me 15%.

an i7 R2 is up but it's $1159. too much.

    EDIT: annnd it's gone! lol

EDIT2: called to have them give me the 15%...not happening. They told me to call back when I receive it in order to process the return. My thought is they have a limitation as to how much they can discount these prior to my actual receipt of the laptop. They offered me $85 off. Not enough! I told them I'd just re-order the same damn laptop...man. So ridiculous.

Soon as it was confirmed the coupon was good on Alienware systems, I jumped on the cheapest one ($529 original price). I still have the stock 4 GB RAM from my MSI GX740 so that will go in straight away. Not sure which SSD I'll go with or even if I'll do that at all. A 320-500 GB WD Scorpio Black would do the job perfectly well at a much lower cost.

I have a spare Intel G2 80GB SSD that I'm gonna throw in my m11x when it comes in. I'll use the 250GB in a portable enclosure for storage. Can't wait till it gets in.

What about this deal with the XPS 16 1647 for $900 before the discount? Seems decent.

800-624-9897 - ask for the "Sales Resolution" department - or just say you want to return your order. Either way I think you go to that dept so they can make a last ditch effort. I'm working on it now. I haven't even received mine yet, but it's en route to my home. They wouldn't budge earlier so I am going to just refuse the package if they're going to be ridiculous.

Much easier to just return it and rebuy. I tried about 3 times with no success.

Seriously? Should I just refuse the FedEx shipment or accept it and get a CRA? I guess I will monitor for an i5 R2...

Don't refuse it. It will take longer if you do that. Call them and get a shipping label then send it back. That's usually the fastest way to get a refund.

Yeah, but I don't want to pay for shipping. I don't mind waiting a couple weeks for a refund. I ordered a "new" refurb i5 (same as in my sig.) this AM for $670.65 + tax. They didn't want to pricematch my first order...so oh well.

Doesn't the return label pay for its shipping back?

Edit: M11 R1 and R2 are all sold out on the outlet atm lol

I like how they just cheesed the -15% by upping the cost of the 4G ram R1 from 549$ to 599$, so you're generally not saving a whole lot with the coupon.

It's amazing how they can get that right but always seem to screw up the specs.

Some of the 4G ram versions are cheaper. m11x r1 in signiture was purchased for 499 (this was without the 15 percent code applied). Total with taxes and shipping was 450. For the most part I agree though. It took me a few hours of refreshing the outlet page to get this deal.
