How to Get this Price:
To get this deal, go to www.dell.com and enter the product code: 6F915-DNPCEY1
The price shows as $899. Then under the section My Software, PHOTOS, MUSIC & MORE! select "No Pre-Installed Software" this will lower the price by $39 and should help lesson the "crap" installed on the machine by a little. And of course make sure to select the Free Upgrade ($10 shipping) to Vista Premium.
PROs:
This is much better than the Inspiron 6400 deal posted a few days ago. This one has many powerful upgrades, top video wSXGA+, 120 GB HD, Draft N, BlueTooth, ATI X1400, Core 2 Duo, etc, etc.
CONs:
Well the only real cons are the fact that you are locked into the upgrades. So if you want to get a $600-700 1505, you can't do so with this deal. However, if you were going to add on the upgrades anyway, this one is a better deal. Only significant issue is if you really wanted WXGA+ or Intel 1395, you can't downgrade.
Note on Accessories:
Also if you are adding on any accessories like the Bluetooth Express Card Remote, then I suggest that you do NOT add them with the laptop, but instead just add them by searching for it via the accessories. It will add them on the same order, but you will get 15% off (because your order total is $400+). Plus if you order $50 in accessories they will also ship for free. If you just simply add them in with the laptop you may not get the 15%/Free-Shipping (on the accessories).
The laptop itself gets the $20 free shipping of course.
I'm a newbie here at notebookreview.com so hopefully I posted this correctly. I searched around and haven't found a better deal than this. The $400 off 6400 was about equal to this, but that deal is expired as of last week. So right now this seems to be the top deal!

May I ask how you find these deals to enter the code and get (kind of) predetermined configurations?
-
Was this ripped from slickdeals...anyways...it is an interesting idea

this is the exact setup i was looking for but couldn't get it under $1000. thanks!
-
$860 is a great price for the specs it has -
Where did you start on the Dell site that allows you to put a code in at the beginning?
-
Also make sure to add the Free Upgrade to Vista Premium... it does have a $10 shipping charge at the time of delivery, but that's not bad for getting the Premium OS.
Otherwise the machine is pretty well configured with the Core 2 Duo, large HD, X1400, DVD Burner, wifi a/b/g/n, and bluetooth. I personally upgraded the CPU and choose a 7200 RPM drive. -
When you get the system, let me know what you think. -

By the way, how long is it between acknowledgement email and confirmation of order email? I ordered yesterday morning and got the acknowledgement email, but not the order confirmation yet..is this a case of "just be patient and I'll get the order confirmation soon?"
Thanks,

UPDATE: I repriced it today using the same e-value code and now they're throwing in a free dell color printer 725 or something like that. Since my order confirmed yesterday I will see if a rep will maybe add that to my order or something. I'm not going to cry about it if they don't but it's worth a shot.
(edited to add : I talked to Manpreet Dhody on the online chat feature and he said the only way I could be sure to get the free printer was to have him cancel the order and let me rebook it. I declined that. I don't want longer build time..more than it already is scheduled to be..)

"Hi-Speed: Dell Draft N Wireless"
OK, educate an idiot, Do I need a special router to work with this, and what about general use in my home? I have cable hook up currently with NO laptop. -
how long will this deal last and can i call dell and possibly substitute the x1400 for a go7400??

My unit is already shipped and was last scanned in Nashville, TN, this morning. I'm in Indiana..should get it by Wednesday. -
orderd this E1505 deal yesterday. glad i found this site. now to sell the printer.

I just ordered this for my daughter the other day. Its already shipped and I couldn't be happier. I got the same laptop (except I have the T7200 and 2yr service) in August and paid $1100...and that was an excellent deal then.
Now I know this is probably the wrong place to ask, but...will I void the warranties of our computers if I were to swap my 1390 mini wireless card for her 1500 draft N and swipe her 355 Bluetooth? After all, I bought the darned things ;-p
...or for that matter, what if I were to up grade my memory? -
