    Dear all,

Got zt3000 two days ago. Got connected with NetGear MR814v3 router to optium online cable moderm. Frustrated with the internet speed about 10-20k/sec. just like the dial-up!!!!!! Same router also connected with my desktop Dell 2400, and the speed is much higher on the same website!!!

    Any suggestions? Thanks!

    1. Check your router settings to make sure you have the speed set accordingly. You may even want to change it from Auto to 11Mbps or higher as a test.

    2. Make sure nothing interfering with the connection (cordless phones, microwaves, etc...)

    3. Try disabling security (temporarily) and see if it helps (encryption slows down connection speeds, the higher the encryption, the slower it is)

    4. Try new drivers for the wireless card on your notebook and router

    5. Move your notebook closer to the router and see if it helps

    Good Luck!

Thanks! I am using the intel Pro 2200bg card. Here are the results: 1)the router works fine (high speed) with the wireless adapter (MA111) on my Desktop. 2)when I put this wirless adapter (MA111) on my new laptop zt3000, the speed is SLOW.

There are others having the same problem with Intel Pro 2200bg card.

I am totally confused. The tech supports from HP and NetGear are blaming each other for the problem!!!!

Any thing to change on Intel Pro 2200bg setting or my zt3000 setting?????

Quick question, are you running SP2 on both the desktop and notebook? I have found that SP2 causes some performance/connection problems with wireless products. After installing SP2 onto my brother's computer, his wireless connections dropped from excellent to only good. Not only that, it would occasionally drop the connection. After removing SP2, his wireless came back to normal.

I still use XP no SP2 upgrade. I am thinking that the intel pro 2200bg card is the problem. I am tried PCI wireless card from NetGear. still low speed. But the ethernet through wire have a high speed.

Please help me here: Any parts may be defect with wireless connection but before ethernet connection?????

    Thanks1

    Liquid,
If you look at Quick's previous post, it was indicated that an external USB adapter (MA111) was used on a desktop and his notebook. The performance was faster with the MA111 on his desktop than when it was connected to his notebook. In this case, it wouldn't be the 11Mbps causing the problem.

    Quick,
What verions of XP are you running? Goto System Properties (located in the Control Panel), and on the General Tab, what's the OS Version, does it indicate any Service Packs? Since you said that you don't have SP2, you may even go the distance and try SP2 to see if it might help you. Although SP2 can be un-installed, you might have to reload your OS if you want it removed correctly.

    liquid,

I have just tried your suggestion. Nothing effected (still slow).

Here is the summary: ZT3000, with Intel Pro wireless 2200bg, with NetGear MR814v3 router. The speed using CNET tester is 40-50K/sec. When I use ethernet cable to wire laptop and router(MR814), the speed is 11M/sec. When I use the MA111 UBS adapter, the speed is slow too. The operating system is XP SP1a.

The same MA111 on my desktop(Dell Dimension 2400)will give me 300K/sec using CNET tester. The operating system is XP SP2. the signal strength is 70% and link quality is 80%.

The only thing left is to upgrade to XP SP2 on zt3000 as Venombite suggested. What is your operating system?????

I may need to change my router too.

Please let me know your set up and speed!
