I'm thinking of getting a Thinkpad X60 (or possibly X60Tablet). I don't think I'll get the built in wwan card now but could it be installed later?

you "can't" install wireless lan into laptop. it is intergrated. so no
on the other hand you can get external cards at retailers and put them into slot in your computer. might not have it though

It all depends on the MB lay out. Some are integrated, while others use a min-pci cards or card buss slots. But if you do not order it with wireless you may not get the antenna's prewired into the display. But I think they are pre-wire now. But may not add the extension leads to reach the card.
