    hello guys, i got a rly strange problem:

    first what happens when i say lan doesnt work:
    web browser dont work, connections which have been open still work. e.g. msn,irc. games still work (i see all gameserver online when i check them via hlsw and can also connect to them). steam also works. i can download with 700kb/s via steam.. but my webbrowser cannot load any page (IE or FF). My connection says: no internet access.
    Doesnt matter if i use a automatic ip or try a fixed one (no its not a double ip conflict).

    So i sit here, my lan works only 50% (cannot browse.. and another strange problem is: if i keep refreshing a page it will work aslong as i use it "active".. all other sites wont work). With wlan everything works fine.

    my network is set up like this:

    modem -> router -> laptop
    modem -> router -> wlan hub -> laptop

    First i thought the problem would be because of mass downloading/uploading.
    I had some torrents running and after 2 hours of massive seeding/downloading i had exactly his problem. We restarted the router, i stopped using torrents and until now everything worked. Now we got a faster connection (from 300kb/s to 700kb/s.. soon 20mb/s) and i downloaded cs 1.6 via steam.. with full speed.. and suddenly reconized that the browser doesnt work anymore. i connected with wlan too and it worked again.

    I thought it would be a router problem (too old, slow etc).. but my wlan is also behind me router.. so the wlan shouldnt work too.

    As soon as i get the 20mb/s my provider will give me a new modem as my current one doesnt support 20mb/s.. so could be the modem the problem? Still -> wlan works..

    any ideas or solutions? :x

    thx bb

    @edit:
    some threads below someone describes a smiliar problem. he said he fixed it by changing the settings to a static ip (manage connection ipv4 -> enter all the required stuff ,ip,dns,gatewy,etc). i also did that.. didnt solve anything :/

    The information about your network setup does not help, rather confuses the issues because it's too incomplete to be useful. If the only problem you have is with HTTP protocol, then it could be a security suite blocking it. If you have a fancy "top brand" security suite installed and recently changed your network IP, then the security suite may be blocking the new network's IP. It also may be expired or getting out of date.

    You can check your router if it is working by directly connecting your modem -> laptop via ethernet cable and dial-up your ISP manually.

    If you can connect directly via your laptop and modem only, then the router is the problem.

    It is also possible that it is your ISP that is causing the problem. Check if your local ISP has problems etc. Torrent downloads shouldn't be a problem I guess.
