heres whats happening. im browsing the interwebs talking to people online etc etc then i notice that the loading spinning circle of dots at the top of my FF page continues spinning for a lot longer than usual. then after this aim starts doing the thing where it goes to "attempting to reconnect" box. Then the wireless connection dies. this happens over the course of like 2 minutes.

I try resetting the router but it still lag/drops. i restart my computer and it still lag/drops. after a while it goes back to working well only to start the lag/drop process sometime later.

i can post some screen shots of Intel PROSet/Wireless or anything if theyre needed but it says that im connected to my network, signal quality = very good, and 36 to 48 Mbps. any ideas on what to do??

if more info is needed i will post it

this is exactly what is happening to me. read my thread, one with few solutions.

usually starts with AIM disconnecting and then FF pages not loading. i wonder if AIM is the cause of this?

Hi MaX PL, I don't recall you saying that you would lose connection while using AIM. I have heard issues with AOL, now I have to go but when I will come back I will post something. Or, just use the search at the top right hand side field and search for AOL, you might get the right thread answering your question.

ok thanks. yeh i should have mentioned it. usually i lose connection when AIM goes out.

i'm using an old version of AIM, version 5.9.6 and dont want to upgrade. i'd also like to mention that this is the same version i have been using for years now, and that i have had AIM on for long periods of time without any problems. the connection problem is very sporadic.

same. my connection has been working fine up until like 2 days ago (d/l'ed the new aim a few weeks ago) so i highly doubt that its AIM/AOL

mine does the same thing, it was out for a day or so, but i didn't have physical access to the router.now it is running great and has been for days.

also, why do people say "interwebs"? i find it stupid and annoying, my friend says that all the time.but he thinks hes a hacker cause he memorizes shortcuts and commands to open windows apps.one day he was type calculator in cmd and it will open, then i was like it should just work with calc.made him feel like ****!!!

bad router, crappy signal, outside interference, some other hardware problem... it could be any of these. you don't have a very specific problem. i have an old router hooked up at my girlfriends house that seems to cut out whenever i use a bunch of bandwidth, and sometimes it just disconnects for no reason. i blame the router though, because it's old.

you might have a bunch of troubleshooting to do before you fix your problem. when did it start doing this anyway?

oh, and its wireless. wireless = not perfect.
